Qantas Adds More Premium Economy Service to the Americas
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Qantas Airways’ new Premium Economy cabin is now available for sale from New York, San Francisco and Buenos Aires, in addition to flights from Los Angeles. Seats are now on sale with availability of the Premium Economy service from the following cities for travel to Sydney:
- From New York starting on March 29, 2009 (effective on QF flights 107/108)
- From Buenos Aires starting on June 1, 2009 (effective on QF flights 017/018)
- From San Francisco starting July 4, 2009 (effective on QF flights 73/74)

Mariani, Qantas Airways senior executive vice president, The Americas and Pacific. “The new service also includes priority check-in, dedicated cabin crew, an additional hand baggage allowance, and priority boarding and disembarkation, amenities that our long-haul passengers value and appreciate,” he added.
Qantas Premium Economy offers:
- superior recline and legroom – nine inch seat recline and up to 42 inch seat pitch;
- extra wide 19.5 inch seats designed by Qantas Creative Director Marc Newson and manufactured by Recaro, with ergonomic cushioning and an adjustable headrest;
- in-arm touch screen video monitor;
- Neil Perry inspired menu with premium wines; and
- Pre-take off refreshments – Champagne, orange juice and water
Qantas is the only airline offering A380 service to the U.S., with A380 non-stop flights from Los Angeles to Sydney and to Melbourne featuring aircraft interiors designed by internationally renowned industrial designer and Qantas Creative Director Marc Newson. Providing 46 flights a week from the U.S., Qantas offers 38 from Los Angeles (to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland), five from San Francisco, a daily direct service from JFK and three from Honolulu. A leader in inflight entertainment, all Qantas mainland departures feature on demand video and audio selections for movies, TV programs, radio and games in all classes.
