The Parking Spot Awards Fueling Contract to Clean Energy

SEAL BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Parking Spot (TPS), a leading U.S. near-airport parking service provider, has awarded Clean Energy Fuels Corp. (Nasdaq: CLNE), North America’s leader in clean transportation, a contract to support the transition of the TPS parking shuttle fleet to compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel at its Austin Bergstrom, Dallas Love Field, and Los Angeles International Airport facilities.

The Parking Spot’s distinctive yellow-and-black spotted shuttles assist guests at 18 locations serving twelve U.S. airports in ten cities including Atlanta, Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Nashville, Orlando, Phoenix and St. Louis.

As part of the The Parking Spot’s fueling services agreement, Clean Energy will design, build and maintain three CNG fueling stations located on TPS-owned properties adjacent to facilities in Austin, Dallas-Ft. Worth and Houston, with the potential to convert The Parking Spot’s fleet nationwide.

Harger explained that natural gas fuel produces up to 30% fewer greenhouse gas emissions in light-duty vehicles as compared to gasoline and up to 23%-percent lower greenhouse gas emissions in medium to heavy-duty applications as compared to diesel. The EIA estimates that 98% of the natural gas consumed in the U.S. is sourced in the U.S. and Canada, and CNG vehicle fuel costs less than diesel.

The Parking Spot’s distinctive yellow and black spotted shuttles run to and from the terminals every five to seven minutes. Drivers offer luggage assistance and guests receive copies of USA Today when they arrive at the facility. Upon return, complimentary bottles of water are offered by the cashiers at exit.
