Port of Seattle Chooses Skire Unifier for New Enterprise Project Management System
MENLO PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Skire, Inc. (www.skire.com), the leading provider of capital program, facilities, real estate and project portfolio management software, today announced that the Port of Seattle has chosen Skire Unifier™ to support its newly streamlined capital project management processes and to provide visibility into project estimates, budgets and cost controls. The decision makes the Port of Seattle one of the nation's leading public-sector adopters of Skire’s advanced project management platform and cost-control best practices.
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is the sixteenth largest U.S. airport as measured by total passengers and has relatively high origination and destination traffic compared to other large airports. Seaport facilities include terminals for containers, general and break-bulk cargo, fishing support facilities, space for more than 2,000 recreational and commercial fishing boats, two large vessel cruise facilities, conference facilities, office buildings and industrial properties.
With Unifier, the Port of Seattle gains comprehensive portfolio management tools that will deliver project and performance data, as well as detailed project cost and schedule management capabilities. Unifier supports the Port's new business process workflows while providing best practices-based controls and alerts for optimizing project performance and accountability. The new system will work with the Port's existing PeopleSoft ERP system, further enhancing its investment.
"Public-sector agencies face increasing scrutiny from citizens and regulatory bodies on project funding and costs," said John Leet, director of marketing for Skire. "We are delighted that the Port of Seattle has taken such a proactive approach to addressing these requirements and pleased that Unifier was selected for their platform."
The new Unifier system will give the Port of Seattle visibility into project, vendor and contract costs, as well as the ability to closely manage changes throughout project lifecycles. Information will be far more accessible to management, staff, contractors and the commission, and web-based dashboards will enable the port to provide transparent reporting for project stakeholders.
