US Airways Names Madeleine Gray Vice President, Business Technology Delivery
TEMPE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--US Airways (NYSE: LCC) today announced the appointment of Madeleine Gray as vice president, business technology delivery. Gray will focus on airport and customer-facing technology and the systems that support it. She will lead a team of 110 technology professionals within the 500-person US Airways information technology (IT) organization. Her appointment was approved by the Company’s board of directors earlier this week. She reports to Brad Jensen, senior vice president and chief information officer.
“We welcome Madeleine at a time when information technology is playing a more important role than ever in delivering a positive experience for our customers – from ticket purchase to check-in to post-flight customer service,” said Jensen. “We are excited about the great depth of leadership and experience she is bringing to US Airways in developing innovative and cost-saving solutions.”
Gray fills an open position within the recently restructured IT group. She will lead the software development team, which is responsible for customer-facing applications, such as airport and online check-in tools and service recovery systems. “By expanding our products like Choice Seats and installing international kiosks, we not only increase efficiency, but generate revenue, all while decreasing costs,” Jensen added.
Gray joins US Airways from Southlake, Texas-based Sabre Holdings Corporation, where she served as senior director, air merchandising and core services, where she led a team of more than 100 developers, analysts, product managers and systems architects. In this role Gray managed a $22 million portfolio of air merchandising, schedules, inventory availability and connectivity products and services serving 350 airlines and more than 55,000 travel agencies.
Gray joined Sabre in 1991. She previously was director of airline marketing at Sabre and also held the roles of director for airline distribution sales as well as manager of Sabre customer service. Gray gained her first airline experience in 1989 as American Airlines’ supervisor of international and Spanish reservation sales.
Gray holds a bachelor of arts in Spanish and Sociology from the University of Texas at Arlington and completed the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business Executive Education. She has two daughters, Natalie and Erica, and plans to relocate to Phoenix with her husband, Alan.
