Dépèche transmise le 7 janvier 2011 par PRNewswire
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, California, January 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Row 44, Inc., the world's leading provider of in-flight broadband connectivity, announced today that it has received approval from the FCC to operate its service aboard commercial aircraft over the Atlantic Ocean.
This FCC license, for the T11N North Atlantic Oceanic Coverage satellite, makes Row 44 the only provider allowed to operate and charge for in-flight broadband connectivity on transatlantic flights.
"This license creates complete seamlessness for Row 44's broadband across the Atlantic," said Howard Lefkowitz, Row 44's chief commercial officer. "Row 44 is now the only company in the world whose airline customers can charge for in-flight broadband on, say, a transatlantic flight from Paris to New York."
Row 44 is authorized for operation in over 100 countries, on four continents. The company's current network coverage includes service over the US, Mexico and Canada, with transatlantic coverage linking North America and Europe expected in 2011.
About Row 44, Inc.
Row 44 is the world's leading provider of in-flight broadband connectivity to commercial airlines. The company's first US customer is Southwest Airlines. Row 44 takes its name from British-born cofounder John Guidon's memories of transatlantic flights as a young man, where he was seated in the rear row of a DC-10 - row 44 - in a non-reclining seat directly in front of the flight attendants' galley, closest to the engine and sharing a wall with the bathroom. Row 44's goal is to make commercial air travel fun and productive even for that passenger. For more information visit .
