Manpower Professional and ASQ Urge Business Leaders and Quality Professionals to Collaborate on the Advancement of Social Responsibility Objectives
MILWAUKEE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Manpower Professional and ASQ, the world’s largest network of quality resources and experts, have partnered to develop resources to guide organizations to create a strategic road map for social responsibility. This innovative approach calls for collaboration among business leaders and quality professionals as they increase awareness, raise the stature, and integrate social responsibility into all aspects of an organization.
“ASQ and Manpower Professional have taken it to the next level, offering an in-depth review of the standard and its implications on quality professionals.”
“In today’s world, organizations are held to ever-higher standards by all stakeholders, from consumers to employees, to clients and donors,” said Melanie Holmes, vice president, world of work solutions for Manpower. “The philosophy of ‘doing well by doing good’ has long been accepted by leadership. More recently, social responsibility has been acknowledged as a strategic driver that contributes to an organization’s overall health. Because social responsibility now has a place as a key performance indicator, it is more important than ever to have organizational governance around objectives that support it, and quality professionals are an important part of this approach.”
Survey Shows Unfamiliarity With Social Responsibility Among Quality Professionals
Because of their unique knowledge and position within the organization, quality professionals play an important role in identifying social responsibility opportunities across many disciplines. However, in a recent survey of more than 1,000 ASQ members and the quality community, 40 percent of respondents indicated they were only somewhat familiar or not at all familiar with the concept of social responsibility. Forty-two percent of respondents also stated that their organization engages in social responsibility in some areas but does not have a fully integrated strategy.
To equip quality professionals with social responsibility knowledge and to complement the recent ISO 26000 international standard on social responsibility, Manpower Professional and ASQ co-authored the paper “Social Responsibility and the Quality Professional: The Implications of ISO 26000.” The paper is a guide designed to help quality professionals and business leaders alike as they maximize the role of the quality professional in social responsibility.
“With the advent of the ISO 26000 social responsibility standard, we now have globally relevant and definitive social responsibility guidance for private and public sector organizations,” said Ron Kingen, chair of ASQ’s Social Responsibility Advisory Council and ASQ past president. “ASQ and Manpower Professional have taken it to the next level, offering an in-depth review of the standard and its implications on quality professionals.”
Free Webinar Addresses Key Findings
In addition to the paper, Manpower Professional and ASQ will host a complimentary webinar, “Corporate Social Responsibility: Foundation for ROI,” hosted by Melanie Holmes and Ron Kingen. The webinar will address primary points of the ISO 26000 standard, key findings of the ASQ social responsibility survey and how quality professionals can help advance a strategy that has socially-focused and bottom-line benefits. The webinar will take place Wednesday, February 23 at 12:30 p.m. CT. Register under upcoming webinars at http://manpowerprofessional.com/us/en/research/webinars/default.jsp.
