STC issued to AeroMechanical Services for AFIRS 228
CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AeroMechanical Services Limited (TSX VENTURE: AMA) (the "Company” or "AMA") is pleased to report that it has received a provisions only Supplemental Type Certificate (“STC”) from Transport Canada this week which allows for the installation of wiring and equipment to support an AFIRS 228 on the Hawker Beechcraft 987 series of aircraft. This STC has been forwarded to EASA for acceptance in Europe.
“The provisional STC is a key milestone in the progress of the Company”
The EASA STC will allow for a flight demonstration, in the second quarter of this year, for a major business fractional fleet operator. AMA anticipates that the full STC will be received later this year, provided the final flight test and activation approval processes are successfully concluded. Those events are scheduled to occur during the third quarter of this year. AMA is very pleased to have the cooperation of a key player in providing a platform to demonstrate the capabilities of AFIRS 228.
This STC has also been sent to the FAA for familiarization, which will enable installation of provisions on OEM aircraft as announced in a press release dated October 19, 2010. AMA is also currently working on STC documentation to allow for installation of the AFIRS 228 on other aircraft that include Airbus A319, 320 and 321, Boeing 737 and 777.
“The provisional STC is a key milestone in the progress of the Company,” said Bill Tempany, CEO. “Installing an operational AFIRS 228 on an aircraft and demonstrating its capabilities to a signed OEM customer and a prospective client is a breakthrough moment for AMA. Completing this in Europe in time for the roll out of the new CPDLC requirements is a demonstration of our commitment to this market.”
AFIRS 228, once completed, will be a fully certified avionics platform capable of meeting all air navigation requirements in Europe, the United States and around the world and will provide the input and outputs necessary to continue to enhance the value of real-time data for AMA’s customers globally. The AFIRS 228 will be the first safety services certified platform on the planet to provide FLYHTStream™, AMA’s patent pending data streaming solution, which delivers all of the black box data in real-time from an aircraft to the ground when initiated by the aircraft, pilot or ground personnel.
