Adacel Announces Appointment of Three US Resident Board Members

ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Adacel (ASX:ADA) announced today that the Company has modified its formal organizational structure to include three United States resident citizens as Outside Directors on its North American Board. These members will act to insulate the Company’s US operations from foreign ownership where US interests are concerned.

The appointment of the US based Directors opens the door for Adacel to expand its US defense business presenting exciting new growth opportunities for the Company. Adacel has already achieved enormous success on many US government programs and aims to expand their presence. The Company has won contracts to provide high tech solutions to the US Department of Defense and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for air traffic control and pilot simulation and training systems. Adacel has also supplied much of the air traffic management automation software for the FAA’s Advanced Technologies and Oceanic Procedures (ATOP) systems and the advanced direct voice input cockpit control systems for the F-35 Lightning II joint strike fighter aircraft.

Adacel’s North American Board is comprised of two US citizen Corporate Officers, three Inside Directors and three US citizens as Outside Directors. Mr. Fred Sheldon, President and CEO and Mr. Seth Brown, CFO will serve as Corporate Officers. The Inside Directors include Mr. Bill Lang and Mr. Robert Montcalm senior executives in Adacel’s operations in Montreal, Canada. The third Inside Director is Mr. Peter Landos of Thorney Investment Group who currently also sits on the Board of Directors of the parent company Adacel Technologies Limited in Australia.

The three new US based Directors have been announced by Adacel as Major General (retired) William L. Bond, Dr. Marvin R. Sambur and Dr. Anthony J. Tether. These gentlemen are prominent in the US defense industry and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to help build on Adacel’s success in the United States.

MG William (Bill) Bond is a retired United States Army officer now serving in private industry. Among his many US Army positions MG Bond served as the Commanding General, Simulations, Training and Instrumentation Command (now PEO STRI) and Director, Force Development, Office of the G-8, United States Army, Deputy for Systems Management and Horizontal Technology Integration, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology). Following his retirement from a distinguished US Army career in 2003, MG Bond joined Cypress International in Alexandria Virginia as Vice President. MG Bond holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Oregon State University and a Master of Science Degree in Acquisition and Contract Management from the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT).

Dr. Marvin (Marv) Sambur former CEO of ITT Defense and Assistant Secretary of the US Air Force, currently holds the position of Professor of the Practice at the University of Maryland Clark School of Engineering, serves on the Board of FARO Technologies and the SSA Board of OSI Geospatial. He also serves on several Government Advisory Boards, including the US Air Force Scientific Advisory Board and the National Academy of Science AF Study Board. From 2001-2005, Dr Sambur served as Assistant Secretary of the United States Air Force for Acquisition and Research. In this position, Dr Sambur formulated and executed a $220 billion Air Force investment strategy to acquire systems and support services for worldwide US military operations. He is highly regarded in the domestic and international defense industry as one of the leading minds in defense electronics. Dr Sambur completed his undergraduate studies in Electrical Engineering at the City College of New York, and earned his MS and PhD in Electrical Engineering at MIT. During his years in industry, Dr Sambur made many scientific contributions to speech recognition, information technology, signal processing, and satellite communication systems, holding patents in well used consumer products.

Dr. Anthony (Tony) J. Tether was Director of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) from 2001 to his retirement in 2009. DARPA is the principal Agency within the Department of Defense for research, development, and demonstration of concepts, devices, and systems that provide highly advanced new technology capabilities. As Director, Dr. Tether was responsible for management of the Agency's projects for high-payoff, innovative research and development. In 2009, Dr. Tether re-formed The Sequoia Group (TSG), which serves government and industrial clients. The Sequoia Group provides program management and strategy development services to government and industry. He is also a Distinguished Fellow with the Council on Competitiveness located in Washington DC. Dr. Tether has served on Army, Navy and Defense Science Boards, and on the Office of National Drug Control Policy Research and Development Committee. He is a Life Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Dr Tether holds a Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and both a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
