Accurate Dial & Nameplate Retains 20 Jobs, Creates Three New Positions with WIB and CMTC Assistance
GLENDALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Accurate Dial and Nameplate, Inc., a California manufacturer of custom nameplates, dials and other graphic products, retained 20 jobs and created three new positions in their 20-personed company through a layoff aversion program. The program, issued by the Verdugo Workforce Investment Board (WIB) through funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, provides technical support for manufacturers aiming to retain employees through targeted strategies.
“The WIB and CMTC were tremendously helpful in creating a program that provided the training we needed”
To celebrate the completion of the program, the organization will hold a graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 19th at their facility. Congressmen Adam Schiff (D) from Congressional District #29 will attend and invited guests include California Senator Carol Liu (D), Assemblyman Mike Gatto (D) and representatives from the City of Glendale, Verdugo WIB and California Manufacturing Technology Consulting® (CMTC).
The company’s layoff aversion program consisted of a succession planning strategy, new sales and marketing initiatives and the obtainment of ISO9000/AS9100 certification, an important specification in the Aerospace and Defense Industry. In addition to saving and creating jobs, the organization retained $560,000 in sales and increased new sales by $525,000.
“Funding helped us maintain contracts and earn back the Approved Supplier Listing status we lost because we lacked certification,” says Erin Dyer, QA Manager of Accurate Dial and Nameplate. “A client announced we would regain over eight programs if we earned our certification, an incredible amount of work for our small company.”
The organization was assisted through the program by CMTC, a private, nonprofit corporation which helps Southern California manufacturers become more competitive. CMTC recommended the specific projects in the layoff aversion program and led them throughout the process.
“The WIB and CMTC were tremendously helpful in creating a program that provided the training we needed,” added Dyer.
