NYKÖPING, Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Regulatory News:

“This is one of CTT’s most important orders as it is for a large amount of aircraft and from a new expanding airline operating in the very dynamic middle-east region”

CTT Systems (STO:CTT) today announced that flydubai (UAE) has placed an order for 31 Zonal Drying™ Systems to be installed in flydubai’s Boeing B737-800 aircraft. The systems, which eliminate condensation in the aircraft, will be installed by Boeing at production line on flydubai’s aircraft to be delivered 2011-2015.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, said: “The Zonal Drying™ System from CTT will give flydubai significant savings in emissions and fuel costs over the life of our fleet. For one aircraft in one year this system reduces Carbon Dioxide emissions by approximately 69 tons, Nitrogen Oxide emissions by 200kg, Hydrocarbon emissions by 35kg and Carbon Monoxide emissions by 480kg. When the rest of our fleet is fitted with this system we will be saving 2,100 tons of Carbon Dioxide emissions each year – and that’s equivalent to the emissions from 660 cars. These savings are incredible and combined with flydubai’s other efforts to minimize emissions will ensure we operate one of the most environmentally friendly fleets in the industry.”

“This is one of CTT’s most important orders as it is for a large amount of aircraft and from a new expanding airline operating in the very dynamic middle-east region,” comments CTT’s VP Sales & Marketing Ulf Liljenberg on today’s order. “With the currently fast rising fuel prices we are happy to help flydubai keeping their costs down and the fact that flydubai is a very efficient low cost carrier with high load factors and high utilization will maximize the benefits of our Zonal Drying™ System,” continues Ulf Liljenberg.

By eliminating condensation in the aircraft both operational and maintenance costs will be lowered through:

  • lowered fuel consumption (i.e. lower aircraft weight due to elimination of accumulated water),
  • improved operational reliability (i.e. less corrective maintenance)
  • consistent insulation performance (i.e. water reduces insulation performance),

Further, the aircraft residual value will be protected or even improved due to reduced corrosive impact over the years. Reduced fuel burn (due to lowered aircraft weight) also has a positive impact on the environment.

CTT’s Zonal Drying™ System has been selected as basic equipment for the new B787 “Dreamliner” and CTT’s humidifiers are options in crew rest compartments and on flight deck. The A380 offers CTT’s humidifiers as option in crew rest compartments. CTT will also supply the Zonal Drying™ system and the Cair™ system for the A350 aircraft, as options.

CTTs products Zonal Drying ™, Cair ™, Flight Deck and Crew Humidifier are standard or optional equipment on Boeing B787, Airbus A350 and A380. CTT has today more than 400 systems installed in more than 30 airlines worldwide. CTT has now 17 years of operating experience on the Zonal Drying ™ system plus 11 years on Cair ™ and Crew Humidifier systems. IATAs report on fuel-saving measures is now including Zonal Drying ™ as one of the few available fuel-saving systems for retrofitting.
