IDGA Long-Range Strike Summit

IDGA Long-Range Strike Summit

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The ability to conduct superior long-range strike operations has long given the US an important military advantage. But the DoD's long-range strike "family of systems" (land-based bombers, carrier-based strike aircraft, cruise missiles and supporting airborne EA platforms) is in critical need of an upgrade, amidst fears that the US is currently at risk of losing its ability to effectively penetrate anti-access/area denial (A2/AD) battle networks.

In his January 2011 speech on the defense budget Secretary Gates stated “It is important that we begin this project now to ensure that a new bomber can be ready before the current again fleet goes out of service. The follow on bomber represents a key component of a joint portfolio of conventional deep strike capabilities – an area that should be a high priority for future defense investment given the anti-access challenges our military faces.”

In response to the demand for greater detail on these new requirements and future programs IDGA is running Long-Range Strike Summit to discuss strategic capabilities and the need for an updated family of systems. Most importantly this event will focus on the joint service strategy that is critical to meeting the overarching objective of global access.

One of the featured speakers at the Long-Range Strike Summit is The Honorable Dr. Donald Cook, Deputy Administrator for Defense Programs, National Nuclear Security Administration, speaking of the science and technology advancements for improved maintenance of nuclear munitions and rapid response capabilities for the DoD including:

  • Maintaining and enhancing the safety, security and reliability of the US nuclear weapons stockpile
  • Current efforts to revitalize the entire nuclear weapons complex to be smaller, safer, more secure and more efficient.

The summit also offers a Pre Summit Focus day that will present cutting edge propulsion technology to improve the range and effectiveness of long-range strike and supporting ISR capabilities.

IDGA's Long-Range Summit takes place in Washington, DC from September 12-14, 2011. For more information or to register please visit http://www.longrangestrike.com
