ZURICH, June 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
Gate Gourmet, a member of gategroup, has extended the existing contract with Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) meant to expire in 2014 for two additional years to 2016 covering catering and provisioning services at the airline's three main hubs in Copenhagen, Stockholm/Arlanda and Oslo as well as other locations in Scandinavia.
Separately, the companies also reached a five-year extension of an existing agreement covering catering services at over 15 locations worldwide. This out-station agreement now also expires in 2016, and the scope of cities includes potentially new locations where Gate Gourmet has a presence but did not yet serve SAS. The companies also reached a similar extension of an existing agreement covering the supply of products provided by sister company deSter.
Over their life, the extensions to the existing contracts and associated new business will generate revenues worth approximately CHF 250 million.
"We are extremely proud to extend and expand the strong partnership with Scandinavian Airlines System. Both companies share a passion for reliability, innovation and quality," said Andrew Gibson, interim Chief Executive Officer of gategroup. "We are pleased to retain SAS as one of Gate Gourmet's key customers well into the future."
Gate Gourmet provides catering and provisioning service for SAS' Business and Economy cabins on long-haul flights from the airline's Scandinavian hubs, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo; for the Business and Economy Flex cabins on European flights; and for intra-Scandinavian flights as well as for charter flights from six Scandinavian locations.
