Sun Country Launches “Soaring” Campaign with Washington Monument Replica
ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sun Country Airlines launched a new advertising campaign this month with the novel tag line of “soaring,” featured in billboards, LRT wrap, print ads, TV, radio and a newly designed website set to launch mid-July. The campaign features an image of the blue and orange Sun Country livery with the term “soaring” next to the plane. A central point of the campaign, promoting the airline’s new daily service to Washington D.C.’s Reagan National Airport, is a 76 foot tall replica of the Washington Monument which is featured on a billboard at highway 494 (facing east) and 24th Avenue.
“We are very excited about our new multi-faceted campaign, especially our life-size Washington Monument replica”
“We are very excited about our new multi-faceted campaign, especially our life-size Washington Monument replica,” said Wendy Blackshaw, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Sun Country. “We always try to incorporate something memorable and unique into our campaigns and I believe building an actual replica of a national treasure qualifies. We want people to notice it and then remember us next time they are booking their travel.”
The airline has produced a new TV spot that includes the “soaring” tag line as well. The TV spot highlights the positive travel experience Sun Country is known for, featuring Sun Country employees and friends along with a hit song from local Country band Rocket Club, “Holding On,” as the background music. The “soaring” campaign was developed with BBDO Minneapolis, a local Twin Cities advertising agency, and also includes a QR code component that will be promoted through the LRT cars and stations as well as signage at local high traffic destinations such as Mall of America. Sun Country’s summer grassroots campaign will feature an RV that is also wrapped with a “soaring” design and will be on site at events like Country Jam, St. Paul Saints games, Schwan’s USA Cup, and Minnesota Vikings training camp.
The Washington Monument replica was constructed by Grafix Shoppe and utilizes a CBS Outdoor billboard structure.
