Cathay Pacific Cancels Most JFK Flights This Weekend
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cathay Pacific Airways will temporarily suspend flights from New York JFK International Airport beginning at 11 a.m. EDT on Saturday, Aug. 27th, as Hurricane Irene approaches the area.
The following outbound flights from New York JFK have been cancelled:
Saturday, Aug. 27th
CX831 … New York JFK to Hong Kong
CX889 … New York JFK to Vancouver
Sunday, Aug. 28th
CX845 … New York JFK to Hong Kong
CX841 … New York JFK to Hong Kong
CX831 … New York JFK to Hong Kong
CX889 … New York JFK to Vancouver
Monday, Aug. 29th
CX845 … New York JFK to Hong Kong
Flights from Hong Kong and Vancouver to New York JFK with arrivals during this period have also been cancelled.
Subject to weather and safety conditions, Cathay Pacific hopes to restart flight operations at JFK some time on Monday, Aug. 29th. The airline’s Web site will be updated as more information on the resumption of flights becomes available.
Passengers booked on cancelled Cathay Pacific flights should not go to JFK airport, which is expected to close at noon on Saturday. Mass transit will not be operating and other transportation options will be extremely limited. Instead, passengers should contact Cathay Pacific via telephone.
Cathay Pacific’s North American reservations center will be open Saturday, Aug. 27th, from 6 a.m. PDT to 4 p.m. PDT to assist passengers. Due to the number of flights impacted, call volume is expected to be heavy and preferred reaccommodation options may not be available. The airline will waive all rebooking and rerouting charges for Cathay Pacific tickets issued worldwide on or before Aug. 26, 2011 for travel on Cathay Pacific with confirmed bookings involving New York between Aug. 26 and Aug. 29, 2011, inclusive. Details are available at www.cathaypacific.com/us
