PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As nonprofit organizations continue to struggle with the economic downturn, compounded by decreased funding from the government, foundations and individuals, US Airways is again partnering with The Nonprofit Center at La Salle University’s School of Business, Philadelphia, to provide Delaware Valley nonprofits with valuable information and insights at a free ½ day program on Friday, October 14.

“The response to this program has been overwhelming,“ Otten added, “with registration filling to capacity in 24 hours and a waiting list of 200 people. This underscores the desire of nonprofits to learn all they can to enhance their fundraising efforts to support and sustain their programs”

“Relationship Fundraising: Finding the Personal Touch in an Impersonal World” will feature six experts from various fundraising sectors. The program runs from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at International House, 3701 Chestnut St., Philadelphia, PA. The speakers will share their advice, opinions and recommendations in a panel discussion, followed by break-out sessions that will allow further exploration of each topic, aimed at making nonprofits more effective in their fundraising efforts.

Speakers and topics include:

  • Getting Personal in the World of Social Media -Presented by Cheryl Black, Social Media Marketing Specialist, Convio, Inc.
  • Why Friend-Raising and Fund-Raising Events Shouldn’t be Mutually Exclusive -Angela DuRoss, Development Director, Arden Theatre Company
  • Maximizing Connections to your Annual Donors - Tina Rothfuss, Annual Giving Manager, Philabundance

  • Creating a Donor-Centric Culture in Your Organization From the Board Down - Doven Collins, Executive Director, Cadence Cycling Foundation
  • Turning Corporate Connections into Individual Donors - Jamie Lindemann, Community Relations Manager, US Airways

“In 2010, we collaborated with US Airways to bring Philadelphia area nonprofits a program on innovations in fundraising and based on its positive impact, we are following that same format, but with new ideas and approaches,” said Laura Otten, Ph.D., director of The Nonprofit Center.

“US Airways believes strong corporate citizenship contributes to the economic and social well- being of our communities. Supporting nonprofit organizations is more than just giving a charitable donation; it is a smart business decision to help create a thriving economic future and enhances the quality of life for our passengers and our employees,” said Kelly Balthazor, manager, US Airways Community Relations. “By continuing our partnership with an established expert on nonprofits in this region, our goal is to help support a wide variety of nonprofit organizations, enabling them to grow into beneficial, sustainable and valuable partners with significant community impact."

“The response to this program has been overwhelming,“ Otten added, “with registration filling to capacity in 24 hours and a waiting list of 200 people. This underscores the desire of nonprofits to learn all they can to enhance their fundraising efforts to support and sustain their programs,” she added.
