The Countdown is on for Procrastinating Holiday Shippers
MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--For holiday shoppers, the countdown is on to get presents to their destination in time for the big day. As one of Santa’s biggest helpers during the holiday season, FedEx Express, an operating company of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, is providing delivery before Christmas for packages shipped by Friday, December 23, 2011*.
“FedEx was founded on the premise of deadlines and we know our customers rely on us to absolutely, positively deliver at just the right time”
“FedEx was founded on the premise of deadlines and we know our customers rely on us to absolutely, positively deliver at just the right time,” said T. Michael Glenn, CEO of FedEx Services. “During the holidays, our increased sense of urgency is felt across all the FedEx operating companies and the excitement for our role in delivering some of that holiday magic is the strongest now in the days leading up to our final deliveries on December 24.”
For the past two weeks, FedEx facilities around the world have been buzzing with as much activity as you’d expect from purple-clad Santa’s “elves” during the holiday season. The company is in the midst of its busiest season in history and moved roughly 17 million packages on its busiest day in history, December 12, 2011. To celebrate this milestone and remind consumers that the clock is ticking, Glenn will be joined by team members from across the FedEx family of companies to ring the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Opening Bell today.
Those shoppers who still need to get gifts sent across the country or around the world in time for Christmas Day have a number of convenient options to help them beat the clock. FedEx Office® has more than 1,800 convenient locations in the U.S. accepting both FedEx Express and FedEx Ground shipments. Customers running from the mall to a shipping location can have their gifts packed by the “pros” at FedEx Office and can even generate a shipping label from their FedEx shipping account using the new FedEx Mobile suite of applications. FedEx Express also has more than 42,000 drop boxes, FedEx Authorized ShipCenters® and Alliance Partners at the ready to accept holiday shipments for delivery on December 24. Customers can also schedule a pick-up at their own location by calling 1-800-Go-FedEx.
* Note: Standard FedEx Express Saturday delivery fees apply for packages shipped on Friday, December 23, for delivery on Saturday, December 24.
