HID Global Safeguards Major Airport in China with Advanced Access Control Solutions

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HID Global, trusted leader in solutions for the delivery of secure identity, announced that Nanchang Changbei International Airport has selected the company’s networked access control solution, contactless smart cards, and readers for its new terminal to enhance overall security. The new system delivers real-time monitoring and data management capabilities, while enabling role-based access control settings to manage staff access at key entry points and restricted areas in the airport.

“Having also completed installations in other major airports in China, HID Global will continue to provide world-class access control solutions that support the rapid development of aviation infrastructure throughout the country.”

Changbei International Airport deployed HID Global’s VertX® V1000 controllers, the VertX® V100 door/reader interface and iCLASS® R10 contactless smart card readers in six core areas, including boarding gates, its extra-low voltage (ELV) system area, equipment rooms, management offices and the entrance to the aircraft operations area. The system enables up-to-the-minute record transmittal to the central server for report generation and real-time monitoring. It also addresses the airport’s need to restrict entry to specific areas based on the time of day, limit access to critical zones to authorized personnel only, and define staff access control levels according to job titles.

Handling over 3.3 million airport passengers a year as the aviation hub for Jiangxi Province, Changbei International Airport faced a number of security challenges. Its sophisticated organizational structure also gave rise to potential risks such as unauthorized entry using cloned cards. As part of increasing overall airport security, iCLASS smart cards have also replaced the airport’s old employee photo ID badge system, and staff members are now required to present their iCLASS credential to readers at entry points for identity verification.

“HID Global’s smart card solutions and open architecture VertX networked access controllers are designed to meet the airport’s evolving requirements and future system expansion. VertX also enables additional deployments such as alarm configuration and other applications,” said Eric Chiu, director of sales, Identity and Access Management, China with HID Global. “Having also completed installations in other major airports in China, HID Global will continue to provide world-class access control solutions that support the rapid development of aviation infrastructure throughout the country.”
