New Seating and Galley Equipment Flies into Aircraft Interiors Expo 2012

HAMBURG, Germany, February 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
A host of innovative approaches to seating and airline galleys will be on display next month when Aircraft Interiors Expo returns to the Hamburg Messe from 27-29 March.
Following interest in its pre-production concept at the 2011 exhibition, Pitch Aircraft Seating Systems will be showing its production-ready seat at this year's show. Developed in conjunction with Intier Automotive for single aisle short-haul flights, this innovative seat weighs less than 25kg and features a backrest moulded from lightweight composite materials. A number of airlines have already expressed significant interest in the design and the company is on track to deliver the seats at the end of the year.
The trend towards lightweight economy seat products is continued by Acro Aircraft Seating whose Superlight Ultra seat gets its first showing in Hamburg this year. Launch airline Primera Air has recently taken delivery of the first production seats, to be installed on its five-strong 737NG fleet. Acro says it has combined low cost of ownership with a robust yet still light weight design and increased leg room.
RECARO Aircraft Seating will use the show to introduce a new business class seat. Providing passengers on shorter journeys with increased comfort and living space, as well as plenty of storage space for personal items such as phones, mp3 players and reading material, it is manufactured using carbon fibre materials to minimise its weight. Bridging the gap between short and long-haul flights the 'fixed shell' design allows for the seat settings to be altered to pre-programmed positions, without disturbing fellow travellers.
ZIM FLUGSITZ will also showcase a new business class seat. The technically innovative BC-01 employs kinematics to maximise passenger comfort and incorporates a multi-material design to ensure weight savings, while boasting a variety of customisable features.
Visitors will also be able to experience B/E Aerospace's Essence Inserts Collection - a selection of premium galley equipment which includes a range of beverage makers, ovens and chiller products. Through its innovative but easy to use design and improved product performance, airlines look set to reap the rewards of increased power efficiency, improved ergonomics and reliability, enhanced aesthetics and reduced weight.
