ITT Exelis appoints B.J. Talley to serve as Director of Corporate Communications

MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ITT Exelis (NYSE: XLS) has appointed B.J. Talley as its director of corporate communications effective March 7. In this position, he will report to David Albritton, vice president and chief communications officer for Exelis, and manage all aspects of public and media relations for Exelis Corporate Headquarters, located in McLean, Va.

Talley has previously served in a number of communications positions at ITT Corporation and ITT Exelis, including director of communications at ITT Missions Systems Division; public relations manager at ITT Corporation Headquarters; and most recently as the lead for employee communications, digital and social media at Exelis Headquarters.

Prior to joining Exelis, Talley led marketing communications for the U.S. government division of Maersk, where he played a key role in the company’s response to the Maersk Alabama piracy incident in 2009. Before joining Maersk, he advised government clients as a strategic communications consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton and served as a public affairs specialist with the U.S. Navy’s Military Sealift Command, where he conducted media relations during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Talley holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of North Carolina and a master’s degree in communications from George Mason University.
