Cathay Pacific Airways Takes the Meaning of “Check-In” to a Whole New Level

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cathay Pacific launched a Foursquare campaign to reward passengers for visiting the airline’s First and Business Class lounge at the San Francisco International Airport prior to boarding their flight to Hong Kong.

“This is our first-time running a location-based campaign, not only to highlight the first Cathay Pacific branded lounge in the US, but also to engage with our passengers through another channel”

From now until April 30, passengers can check-in on Foursquare at Cathay Pacific’s First and Business Class Lounge to receive an exclusive gift and enter for a chance to win an upgrade on their next flight by leaving their business card with the lounge receptionist.

To earn the reward, travelers simply need to follow these steps:

  • Download the Foursquare application on a mobile device
  • After checking into the Cathay Pacific First and Business Class lounge on the Foursquare application, show the check-in badge to the lounge receptionist and receive an exclusive Cathay Pacific memorabilia
  • Leave a business card with lounge receptionist for a chance to win an upgrade on the next trip*

“This is our first-time running a location-based campaign, not only to highlight the first Cathay Pacific branded lounge in the US, but also to engage with our passengers through another channel,” says Dennis Owen, the airline’s vice president of marketing, Americas. “It’s our way of recognizing and thanking our loyal passengers for their continued support.”

Recently opened in November 2011, Cathay Pacific’s First and Business Class lounge at the San Francisco International Airport is the airline’s first branded lounge in the US. Modeled after the carrier’s award-winning lounges at the Hong Kong International Airport, the 520 sq. meters lounge boasts a comfortable seating area featuring the innovative and handcrafted Cathay Solus Chair, 3 shower-suites for those wishing to freshen up, 7 private work stations providing a convenient way to work, as well as the airline’s signature Noodle Bar offering freshly prepared noodles such as Dan Dan Mien and Wonton Noodle soup.

The lounge is open 4 hours prior to flight departure. Customers invited to enjoy the lounge are First and Business Class passengers traveling on Cathay Pacific and oneworld carriers, Marco Polo Club members with Silver Card status and above and oneworld Sapphire or above members. More details on the lounge can be viewed on the airline’s Youtube channel at youtube.com/cathaypacific.
