Lien : http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/20 ... ondon.html DATE:13/08/08. SOURCE:Flight International New world speed record set during flight from New York to London By Barbara Cockburn Helicopter pilots from the USA have broken a world speed record from New York to London. The new world speed record was set by pilots Scott Kasprowicz and Steve Sheik during the first leg of their around-the-world speed record, they're calling the Grand Adventure 2008, in an AgustaWestland Grand helicopter. Cela va faire rire certains ! Mais, .. "read on" ! --------------- Their flight from New York to London covered 6,380km (3,449nm) nautical miles and took 40hrs, 41min. The record of the flight will be submitted to the National Aeronautical Association for ratification. The Grand Adventure is an attempt to break an existing world speed record in a helicopter and pilots Sheik and Kasprowicz plan to complete the record in 14 days. The current record is 17 days. They plan to visit 18 countries in 24 time zones, with 78 fuel stops. The pilots hope to perform this world record attempt with "standard avionics in an AgustaWestland Grand helicopter if they cruise at 160 knots all day long". Comme endurance ? --------------------- We are thrilled to have broken this record. Its been an exhilarating and exhausting first few days, said Kasprowicz after landing at Redhill, just south of London, early Saturday morning. Weve experienced every possible type of weather condition including rain, icing and strong head winds, and through each challenging condition, the helicopter has performed exceptionally. It took a lot of hard work and last minute coordination to make this record happen and we appreciate everyones efforts. The AgustaWestland Grand helicopter has low fuel consumption and is equipped with Pratt & Whitney PW207 turbine engines. Réactions ? ----------------- PS : autre lien : http://www.amtonline.com/article/articl ... mp;id=6149 New World Speed Record from New York to London Set By Kasprowicz and Sheik in AgustaWestland Grand Helicopter AgustaWestland Reston, VA (August 11, 2008) During the attempt to break the around the world speed record in an AgustaWestland Grand helicopter pilots Scott Kasprowicz and Steve Sheik have set a new speed record on the first leg of their trip from New York City to London. Le RU décide de mettre au pot ! Lien : http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/20 ... oject.html 15/08/08. SOURCE:Flight International UK funds React rotor technology project By Rob Coppinger The UK's AgustaWestland-led three-year £8.8 million ($16.8 million) Rotor Embedded Actuator Control Technology (React) programme has been announced. React aims to develop active surfaces for rotor blades to improve their aerodynamics and noise levels. Active hydraulic systems for rotor control will also be a focus. Full-scale prototypes will go through laboratory-based validation and the project will develop manufacturing methods for the technology. Intéressant. "This project takes a strong understanding of the factors affecting the performance of rotor blades and combines it with the latest manufacturing methods," says the UK government's Technology Strategy Board's innovation programmes director, David Bott. Half of the programme's £8.8 million is being paid by the board, which exists to promote and support technology research that benefits UK business. Le RU s'est réveilleé, donc ! ---------------------------- AgustaWestland is leading a team that includes UK universities and some of its supplier companies. It says that React does not replace the UK's British Experimental Rotor Programme (BERP), of which there have been four. While AgustaWestland does not expect a BERP V, the company is internally funding follow-on work to BERP IV. Précision intéressante, aussi ! |

Liens : http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/20 ... ation.html DATE:19/09/08. SOURCE:Flight International Future Lynx engine gets EASA certification By Craig Hoyle Honeywell/Rolls-Royce joint venture LHTEC has achieved type certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency for the CTS800-4N engine that will power AgustaWestland's Future Lynx utility and T129 attack helicopters. LHTEC says the type certification milestone clears the way for it to commence production deliveries of the 1,360shp (1,000kW)-rated engine to AgustaWestland, which received its first test example for the Future Lynx last April. Subcontractor GKN Aerospace will deliver the first Future Lynx airframe in November, and the type remains on schedule to make its flight debut in Yeovil, Somerset, around November 2009, says AgustaWestland. The British Army will receive 40 of the twin-engined aircraft (Battlefield Reconnaissance Helicopter variant.....) and the Royal Navy 30, with deliveries scheduled to run between 2011 and 2017. T129s on order for the Turkish army will also be powered by the new CTS800-4N design. ---------------------- Autres liens : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdnwetHP ... re=related (video) http://www.rolls-royce.com/media/showPR.jsp?PR_ID=40704 http://www.rolls-royce.com/media/showPR.jsp?PR_ID=40705 Extrait : Most recently, the CTS800 engine series was selected to power the AgustaWestland T129 helicopter as part of the Turkish Tactical Reconnaissance and Attack Helicopter (ATAK) Program. The CTS800 powered T129 is now poised to strongly compete for Attack Helicopter programs around the world. ---------------------- No further comment !

Lien : http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/20 ... fings.html GKN DELIVERS FIRST FUTURE LYNX AIRFRAME AgustaWestland has taken delivery of the first of 70 complete Future Lynx airframes assembled by GKN at its Yeovil, UK facility. GKN made extensive use of monolithic machine components and three-dimensional digital modelling to reduce the part count by 80% compared with the Super Lynx airframe.
