As ultra low cost carrier Spirit Airlines continues to increase
capacity throughout 2008, the airline is introducing new daily
non-stop service between San Antonio, Texas and Fort Lauderdale,
Florida. Spirit will start with one daily flight on April 14, 2008,
and a second daily flight will begin on May 1, 2008. To celebrate,
Spirit is offering $18.36 Independence Fares(i).
Spirit's $18.36 Independence Fares start January 15, 2008 at
www.spiritair.com and tickets must be booked by January 16, 2008 at
midnight.
"As a Texan, I am very proud that my home state won its
independence in 1836," said San Antonio native and Spirit Airlines
Vice President and Controller David Bradford. "I am equally as proud
to be associated with an airline that is able to facilitate this new
service by offering Texas travelers independence from high fares."
"This is terrific news for San Antonians," said San Antonio
Aviation Director Mark Webb. "Spirit is not only connecting two
vibrant cities with non-stop service, but they're also bringing to the
market an ultra low cost business model that I think San Antonians are
going to find very appealing."
Looking toward the future, Webb added that "we're certainly
hopeful that this is just the beginning of a larger partnership
between San Antonio International Airport and Spirit Airlines. The
recent growth in the 'Alamo City' has simply been amazing, so we
certainly see potential for more destinations in the future."
