Qantas Airways Announces Daily Flights between New York City and Australia

Qantas Airways announced it will increase its services from New York effective August 14, 2007 to offer daily direct flights to Sydney, Australia via Los Angeles. The additional flights meet the increasing demand for seamless travel to Australia from the New York gateway.

"Qantas daily service from New York offers increased flexibility and additional choices for travel between the U.S. East Coast and Australia, whether traveling for business or pleasure," said Wally R. Mariani, Qantas Airways senior executive vice president, The Americas and Pacific. "As a commitment to meeting the travel needs of our passengers, the increased flights enable enhanced access to key business markets between two of the busiest cities in the world," he added.

QF flight 108 conveniently departs New York's JFK airport every evening for the direct flight to Sydney. Operating more non-stop flights between the United States and Australia than any other airline, upon arrival Qantas provides excellent onward connections to more than 50 domestic Australian destinations.

The new Qantas schedule will include:

-- Seven flights per week from New York to Sydney via Los Angeles;

-- 35 flights per week from Los Angeles, with an additional three weekly flights from June 19-July 28, 2007, totaling 38 flights per week for this period;

-- Five weekly flights from San Francisco;

-- Three weekly flights from Honolulu; and

-- Three flights per week from Vancouver via San Francisco, operated seasonally between June 15 and August 12, 2007

Flying three-class Boeing 747-400 aircraft, all Qantas Airways transpacific flights include complimentary meals, bar service and personal seat-back TV screens in all classes with over 400 choices on demand, providing virtually endless entertainment options. On international business class services to Australia, Qantas is the only airline to offer the award-winning Skybed business class sleeper seat and is scheduled to be the first airline to fly the Airbus A380 aircraft from the U.S. to Australia in the last quarter of 2008.
