FAA Grants Its Highest Safety Award to Horizon Air Maintenance for 8th Year in a Row
Communiqué publié le 01/03/2007 à 22h33

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded Horizon Air its eighth consecutive Diamond Certificate of Excellence this week. The award recognizes the airline for achieving a 100 percent participation rate by its maintenance personnel in the Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Awards program.

"Horizon Air continues to excel in encouraging continued education in its AMTs," said Ernie Keener, CRJ-700 airworthiness program manager at the FAA's Portland flight standards district office. "We at the FAA consider Horizon an industry leader in aviation safety and training, and it's been my pleasure to work with the professional management team and training department at Horizon for the last nine years."

Established in 1991, the AMT program honors aviation maintenance personnel and employers who participate in training opportunities that exceed FAA regulatory requirements. The Diamond Certificate of Excellence is the highest honor the program can bestow on a company.

"This is a tribute to Horizon's maintenance employees and their dedication to continually taking their technical expertise to new levels in order to sustain and strengthen our company's excellent safety record," said Celia Sherbeck, Horizon's vice president of maintenance and engineering.

Named 2007 Regional Airline of the Year by Air Transport World magazine, Horizon today serves 48 cities throughout California, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, and British Columbia and Alberta. Together, Horizon Air and Alaska Airlines serve 89 cities and are subsidiaries of Alaska Air Group, Inc. (NYSE:ALK).
