Linear Air, the leading very light jet (VLJ) air-taxi operator,
today announced the launch of service in the Washington D.C.-Baltimore
area. The air-taxi service is the first of its kind in the Washington
D.C.-Baltimore area.
Linear Air operates the nation's largest fleet of executive Cessna
Grand Caravan propjets, which offer the flexibility and convenience of
private air travel at prices rivaling full coach airline fares. There
are no other propjets of this type based in the Washington
D.C.-Baltimore area. Since 2004, Linear Air has operated the Caravan
as a proxy for the Eclipse 500 VLJ. Linear Air has ordered 30 Eclipse
500 VLJ's from leading VLJ manufacturer Eclipse Aviation in
Albuquerque, New Mexico, and expects to begin taking delivery of
Eclipse 500 VLJs this summer.
Linear Air's Washington D.C.-Baltimore base is at the Next Flight
Aviation private terminal at the Manassas Regional Airport. Manassas
Regional Airport is located just 15 miles south of Washington Dulles
International Airport, but without the stress, hassle, crowds and
lines. "There is tremendous pent-up demand for more affordable and
accessible short-hop private air service in the Washington,
D.C.-Baltimore metropolitan area," said Ann Moseley, General Manager
of Next Flight Aviation. "Linear Air's Caravans fit this need
perfectly."
Linear Air's Caravans are eight-passenger propjet turbine powered
aircraft staffed by two pilots, featuring plush leather seats, luxury
appointments and onboard complimentary catering. Each are outfitted
with the most advanced safety systems, including the latest
navigation, weather, and traffic collision-avoidance technologies.
"With our base at Manassas, we now offer contiguous service from
New England all the way down to the Southeast," said William Herp,
President and CEO of Linear Air. "As we've grown from our first base
in Boston to New York and now Washington D.C.-Baltimore, we've seen
tremendous demand for our service among business travelers for day
trips, as well as leisure travel to second homes and out of the way
resorts like The Greenbrier."
To spearhead the company's sales effort in the Washington
D.C.-Baltimore region, Linear Air has joined forces with seasoned
sales and transportation executive Michael Lyons. Lyons brings Linear
Air 25 years of sales and marketing experience as owner of one of the
largest courier services in the Washington, D.C. area and a D.C.-based
executive limousine service. Lyons holds an Honors B.A. from the
University of Maryland. "Mike's entrepreneurial drive and experience
in the luxury transportation business make him the perfect Sales
Director for our Washington D.C.-Baltimore expansion," said Herp.
