Vino Volo Invites Media to Grand Opening Event in Newest Location at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall (BWI) Airport
Communiqué publié le 09/04/2007 à 15h19

Wine enthusiasts no longer need to travel to wine country to savor a tasty Merlot or Chardonnay. Instead, travelers in search of a fine wine can simply head to Vino Volo, a sophisticated escape located in the AIRMALL(R) at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall (BWI) Airport. Travelers can sip great wines, enjoy specialty cheeses, and meats, and unwind in plush leather lounge chairs before take-off. In celebration of the new location, Vino Volo is hosting a grand opening event for media at the new Concourse A location on Thursday, April 12, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

"The addition of Vino Volo to the AIRMALL(R) is yet another example of how BAA Maryland continues to offer travelers unique experiences before and after their flights," noted Patrick Walsh, Vice President, BAA Maryland. "We are pleased to welcome this high-end wine shop to the AIRMALL(R) at BWI."

Vino Volo combines a cozy wine lounge, tasting bar and restaurant into a sophisticated retreat for the traveling public. Vino Volo (derived from "wine flight" in Italian) offers hand-selected wines from around the world by the glass, in themed tasting flights of small pours, and by the bottle for retail customers to take home or have shipped.

"Vino Volo is a completely new concept in wine retail and travel. We provide a unique wine tasting opportunity for travelers looking for an out of the ordinary place to spend their time before boarding," said Doug Tomlinson, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Vino Volo.

Every wine is available by the glass, by the bottle, as well as part of a tasting flight, with prices ranging from $6 to $14 per glass or tasting flight. The high-end splurge flight "Sommelier Series" costs extra. Wines are also available through Vino Volo's Web site at www.vinovolo.com. In addition, Vino Volo offers two wine clubs "American Treasures" and "World Values" for enthusiasts who enjoy sipping on select, hard-to-find wines. Club members can receive their wines arrive monthly or quarterly.

Vino Volo also offers elegant small plate meals to pair with the wines, including items such as locally-produced artisan cheeses, dry cured meats, and smoked salmon rolls wrapped around crab meat and creme fraiche. All of Vino Volo's dishes are available for customers to enjoy in the store or to carry with them onto their flight.

Note to Media: All media must RSVP to Joanne Beardslee at least 24 hours prior to the event and present a valid Driver's License the day of the event per security requirements. Registered media will be greeted by Vino Volo staff at the Concourse A Security Checkpoint where IDs will be checked. Vino Volo will escort secured media to the new location. Joanne Beardslee of BAA Maryland can be reached at (412) 642-7700 or via email at joanne.beardslee@elias-savion.com.
