EDO Corporation (NYSE: EDO) will provide the Department of Defense
with 1,100 "CREW 2.1" systems and associated logistics and support
equipment. CREW is an acronym for an electronic warfare system that
counters radio-controlled improvised explosive devices.
This is an $88 million contract awarded by the Naval Sea Systems
Command and the Program Executive Office for Littoral and Mine
Warfare. It will help meet Department of Defense requirements in
support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
"These vehicle-mounted systems are going to counter one of the
biggest threats harming our troops in the field," said James M. Smith,
EDO's chief executive officer. "EDO will work diligently to make sure
the equipment is delivered as quickly as possible. We will continue to
invest our financial and engineering resources to improve on
technology in the area of electronic force protection."
