BAA Boston and MSPCA Host PET-FRIENDLY News Conference at Boston's Logan International Airport on Tuesday, April 17
Communiqué publié le 11/04/2007 à 14h05

BAA Boston, developer and manager of the retail and concessions program at Boston's Logan International Airport and the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals (MSPCA)-Angell have collaborated to remind travelers of the pet-friendly environment at the airport, enabling them to take their four-legged friends aboard when traveling. The two organizations will host a news conference event at the airport on Tuesday, April 17 at 10 a.m. EDT to discuss their partnership and how traveling with pets can be fun and easy.

"With an increase in the number of pets traveling, we want to remind travelers that they can take their pets along for the ride," said Mike Caro, Vice President, BAA Boston. "Bring your fuzzy friends with you when traveling and make sure to stock up on fun specialty items found in the AIRMALL(R) before boarding."

The "pet-friendly" environment at Logan offers something for everyone -- from helpful traveling tips and convenient water bowls for pet owners to pup cakes, cookies, t-shirts and collars for Fido and Felix. Quick and easy traveling tips are located throughout the airport to provide travelers with traveling do's and don'ts, which makes traveling with your fuzzy friend an enjoyable experience.

"We are excited to be part of the pet-friendly program at Logan," said Carter Luke, chief executive officer, MSPCA-Angell. "Pets are true family members, and it is important that travelers consider all of the necessary precautions before flying with their pets."

Helpful Traveling Tips

Spring break has arrived, and summer vacation planning is in full swing. Travelers with pets will need to plan ahead and consider a few things advance of take-off:

-- Make sure your pet is current with vaccinations.

-- Discuss the pros and cons of sedating your pet during flight.

-- Make sure to "reserve a seat" for your pet when you book your flight.

-- Book direct flights or avoid long layovers so that your pet can arrive quickly.

-- Check weather related restrictions when flying with your pet.

-- Feed your pet six to eight hours prior to flight time.

-- Make sure your pet is properly collared and has an identification tag.

Note to Media: Media interested in attending the news conference must RVSP to Joanne Beardslee prior to the event. The event will take place at Hudson News located Landside in Terminal E. Parking is free in the Terminal E Limo Lot. Interviews with BAA Boston, MSPCA-Angell and Massport are available.
