XOJET, the world's first private airline, has been selected as one
of the top 100 Best Places to Work in the Greater Bay Area in 2007 by
the San Francisco Business Times, the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business
Journal and the East Bay Business Times. This significant achievement
was based on employee feedback, with XOJET respondents praising the
company for its culture of exemplary teamwork, manager effectiveness,
and employee empowerment. Since its incorporation in January 2006,
XOJET has grown rapidly and currently has more than 140 employees
nationwide.
The 2007 awards program was the most competitive to date,
attracting 464 nominees. The 2007 ranking was announced at a gala
event in San Francisco on April 23, and was compiled based on results
from a survey of more than 161,000 Bay Area workers across industries
in 12 Bay Area counties. Despite the high number of aviation-focused
businesses in the region, XOJET was the only private aviation company
that made the top 100 list.
"Success in our industry depends on a strong culture of excellence
and service," said Paul Touw, president and CEO of XOJET. "We invest
heavily to bring on proven talent from diverse backgrounds, and to
equip our employees with the training and motivation they need to
achieve breakthroughs in the level of service, safety and value we
deliver to customers. We're thrilled that our efforts to build a
superior working environment have been recognized by such a respected
group of publications, and are especially appreciative that our
employees have honored the company in this way."
XOJET combines the operational sophistication of an established
airline with the progressive culture of a modern Silicon Valley
innovator. A few of the things that make XOJET an exceptional place to
work include:
-- Highly-Competitive Compensation: XOJET benchmarks against
industry and regional standards to ensure the company's pay
and benefits program leads the industry and the market. Every
employee -- from pilots to maintenance crews and
administration -- is an owner through XOJET's stock option
plan, a rare benefit in the private aviation industry.
Periodic employee surveys help executives identify concerns
and satisfy employee needs.
-- Team-Driven Culture: Borrowing best practices used by military
flight squadrons, each XOJET pilot is part of a small
self-regulating team that provides coaching and mentorship,
holds team members to high standards of performance, and gives
voice and support to members' ideas to improve service and
safety. Pilots report that this approach results in a culture
of open communication and empowerment at all levels of the
organization. This culture has helped XOJET attract some of
the best pilots in the industry.
-- XOJET Flight for Charity: XOJET developed Flight for Charity,
a program that reserves time on the company's aircraft fleet
for charitable organizations in the communities in which the
company operates. Employees recommend organizations in need,
and work with them to maximize the value of the donated
flights -- whether to transport cancer patients from remote
towns to treatment centers, or to auction and raise funds for
families in need.
About the Best Places to Work List
The Best Places to Work list is sponsored annually by the San
Francisco Business Times, East Bay Business Times and Silicon
Valley/San Jose Business Journal. To compete for a spot on the list,
companies first complete a questionnaire about their retirement plans,
health insurance, employee training and review process, tuition and
transportation reimbursement, management communication, and other
policies and benefits. All Bay Area-based employees of participating
companies are then given an opportunity to respond online and
anonymously to a series of 37 in-depth questions about the company
that gauge how happy they are with their work climate and culture,
management practices, and specific policies and benefits offerings.
Thousands of employees took part in the 2007 survey, and XOJET's
scores were based entirely on employees' responses.
About XOJET
XOJET is the world's first Private Airline, combining the
advantages of private jet travel with airline-grade safety, economics
and operational efficiency. Like successful airlines, the company
utilizes a single-aircraft model and operational innovation to drive
down costs and pass the benefits on to customers. XOJET delivers the
newest fleet of private jets in the nation by the flight, and
introduced the revolutionary Exchange Ownership, which lowers the
total cost of aircraft ownership by 30 to 50 percent. The company's
strategy to combine these two offerings within one operation allows it
to substantially lower jet ownership costs while setting a new service
standard for private jet travel. For more information, visit
