Northwest Airlines (Pink Sheets:NWACQ) today announced that
Kingfisher Airlines, based in Bangalore, India, has joined the
Northwest WorldPerks program as a partner airline.
The partnership between Northwest and Kingfisher provides enhanced
program benefits to Northwest's WorldPerks members traveling within
India. WorldPerks members can earn and redeem frequent flyer miles on
Kingfisher, India's fastest growing airline, to 28 key Indian business
and leisure destinations with its new fleet of 26 Airbus aircraft.
Northwest, through its joint venture partnership with KLM Royal
Dutch Airlines, has provided service to India since 1997, and
currently offers 18 weekly flights from the U.S. to India via
Amsterdam. Joint venture flights serve Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad.
"Northwest Airlines is pleased to welcome Kingfisher Airlines as a
member of our expanding WorldPerks partner network," said Jim Cron,
vice president - passenger marketing and sales. "We believe the
expanded travel opportunities Kingfisher presents will be popular
award destinations with our WorldPerks members and will provide added
value to the entire WorldPerks program."
The partnership also includes convenient electronic ticketing and
through check-in services for all passengers when connecting between
Northwest and Kingfisher flights. In addition, Northwest WorldClub
members and World Business Class customers will have access to
Kingfisher's airport lounges in India.
During its two years of operation, Kingfisher has succeeded in
becoming a leader in air transport across India. It operates more than
160 flights a day and is known for its efforts to create a unique
