Today XOJET announced that its company has earned the
distinguished Platinum rating from Aviation Research Group/U.S.
(ARG/US), a respected independent safety firm. The ARG/US Platinum
rating is widely recognized as the ultimate acknowledgement of
excellence in operational practices and flight safety standards, and
is the highest-level safety audit rating in private aviation. Less
than six percent of operators rated by ARG/US achieve this
qualification, and XOJET joins a prestigious group of only 55
Platinum-rated operators worldwide.
XOJET was closely inspected by a seasoned ARG/US audit team, who
verified that XOJET's flight operation represented industry best
practices and was managed with a clear commitment to operational
safety. Following the rigorous audit, XOJET was commended for "top
industry managers, an aggressive and comprehensive self-audit program,
modern and immaculate aircraft, a highly qualified pilot workforce,
and rigorous pilot hiring standards," according to the final ARG/US
report. "The Platinum rating is assigned to companies who meet or
exceed the established ARG/US standards for equipment, maintenance and
crew experience," said Joe Moeggenberg, president of ARG/US. "We
commend the company for its unwavering commitment to safety."
XOJET was one of the first U.S. operators to be fully compliant
with the FAA's new A008 operational requirements, and has recently
achieved a number of other impressive safety ratings, including
recognition as a Wyvern-approved operator by Wyvern Consulting Ltd.,
another leader in aviation safety auditing. XOJET is on the NATA
Safety & Maintenance Committees, enrolled in the NATA Safety-First
Management program and is working with the FAA on the development of
the new Safety Team program, FAAST.
"Our team is dedicated to bringing airline-grade safety to private
aviation, and this honor reflects our relentless commitment to safety
and professionalism in everything we do," said Paul Touw, president
and CEO of XOJET. "This accomplishment is a result of the hard work of
our expert flight operations, quality assurance group, and maintenance
teams. Their skill and passion allow us to fulfill our mission to
deliver the highest levels of safety and service to our customers
every day."
The ARG/US-administered audit focuses on criteria including
historical safety data, current aircraft and pilot background checks.
ARG/US awards a safety rating of Silver, Gold or Platinum to operators
that meet or exceed the criteria. The highest-level ARG/US Platinum
safety rating is only awarded to operators who meet all the criteria
for Silver and Gold, and then successfully pass an exhaustive
Department of Defense style safety process and system audit.
Setting a New Standard for Operational Safety
In 2006, XOJET developed and implemented one of the most
comprehensive Safety Management Systems (SMS) in private aviation,
modeled after commercial airline programs. The national scale of
XOJET's private airline operation enabled this high level of
investment in safety, and the system was designed by XOJET's seasoned
safety team in partnership with industry leaders. Drawing on the
team's collective experience in commercial and private aviation
operations and based on six-sigma principles, SMS features a
comprehensive approach to developing and measuring process combined
with rigorous oversight. With SMS, XOJET systematically and
progressively audits operating procedure and maintenance protocol
compliance across every aspect of its operation.
"A robust internal evaluation program is in effect at XOJET,"
commented ARG/US lead maintenance auditor Larry Fletcher. "It is one
of the best programs I have had the pleasure to review." The company's
safe and reliable operations are further supported by the company's
significant investments in:

Unprecedented flight crew training and quality
The company's highly-experienced pilots are required to undergo 300
hours of training in their first year with XOJET, with 120 hours of
additional training every subsequent year. They must achieve a Captain
type rating for their aircraft, even if they serve as a co-pilot. This
training far exceeds FAA standards. Peer reviews are held for every
pilot each quarter, and quality audits are conducted in flight by
FAA-certified Standards Captains.
XOJET-owned maintenance network
XOJET invested significantly to build permanent bases and a dedicated
in-house maintenance organization to ensure complete control over
maintenance quality, one of the most critical drivers of safety. The
24/7 operation focuses exclusively on the XOJET fleet, is tightly
integrated with flight crews, and has deep knowledge of each XOJET
aircraft.
Deep integration with manufacturers
Like successful commercial carriers, XOJET has focused on a single
aircraft type -- the Cessna Citation X. This enables XOJET's flight
and maintenance crews to develop deep expertise in the Citation X, and
allows the company to invest in extensive integration with the
manufacturer.
