The Beacon Council, Miami-Dade County's official economic
development partnership, will be traveling to France from June 16-23
to attend Le Bourget, the world's largest aviation trade show, to
promote Miami-Dade's thriving aviation-related assets to industry
leaders from around the world.
While in France, Beacon Council representatives, including
President & CEO Frank Nero, and local business and community leaders
will participate in business meetings with various aviation and
aerospace companies. During one such meeting, Beacon Council
representatives and other delegates will make presentations about
Miami-Dade's key sectors to the Paris Economic Development Agency and
some of the companies The Beacon Council is currently working to
attract to our area. The Beacon Council's delegation will also be
hosted by Paul USA, which is planning a major expansion in Miami-Dade
County, at a luncheon on June 20.
Approximately 15 delegates from the public and private sectors
will accompany The Beacon Council on this business development
mission, including: Miami-Dade County Commissioner Bruno Barreiro,
Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners; Keisha Rice, Deputy
Director of the State of Florida's Office of Tourism, Trade, and
Economic Development (OTTED), which will be representing Florida
Governor Charlie Crist on the trip; Angel Medina Jr., Chair of The
Beacon Council and Area Executive of Southeast Florida for Regions
Bank; and Hank Klein, Chairman of the Greater Miami Chamber of
Commerce and Executive Director of Business Development for Cushman &
Wakefield of Florida, Inc. The Beacon Council will also be joined by
representatives from Enterprise Florida, Inc., the World Trade Center
Miami, Miami International Airport, Arnstein & Lehr, Bureau Veritas,
Glenn M. Cooper & Associates, P.A. and the University of Miami.
"This is the fifth year we will be participating in the Paris Air
Show, which continues to be the most important aviation-related trade
show in the world," said Nero. "We look forward to enhancing our
strong relationships with key French business organizations and
developing new contacts with decision makers from some of the world's
prominent aviation-related companies."
With the assistance of the French consulates in Miami and Atlanta,
The Beacon Council secured meetings with various aviation companies to
showcase the various advantages and assets Miami-Dade offers
businesses in the industry.
