As part of an overall international flight schedule expansion to
meet rising demand, Qantas Airways announced it will again increase
its current U.S. services to Australia effective March 2008. Two new
additional weekly non-stop flights between Los Angeles and Brisbane
will provide travelers with the enhanced convenience of daily service.
The Qantas schedule will also increase its services between Los
Angeles and Sydney, which will result in a total of 17 weekly
services.
This latest schedule expansion brings the total number of non-stop
services between the U.S. and Australia to an all time high of 46
flights per week, including the daily non-stop service Qantas now
offers between Los Angeles and Auckland, New Zealand.
"Qantas will have doubled its non-stop services between mainland
USA and Australia in less than five years and our continuing schedule
increases in this important market are a clear indication of the
ongoing commitment we have made to provide the most choice, comfort
and convenience to our North American travelers," said Wally R.
Mariani, Qantas Airways senior executive vice president, The Americas
and Pacific. "Since inaugurating the San Francisco gateway last year
with three weekly flights, we've now increased it to five per week as
a direct result of our customer feedback. Similarly in New York,
customer preference was to provide daily frequency so we have
announced more new flights to provide daily service from New York
effective August 14," he added.
Qantas continues to operate more non-stop flights between the
United States and Australia and New Zealand than any other airline and
provides excellent onward connections to more than 50 domestic
Australian destinations and four in New Zealand.
The newly enhanced Qantas schedule includes:
-- Increasing to daily service between Los Angeles and Brisbane
effective March 27, 2008;
-- Increasing to 17 weekly flights between Los Angeles and Sydney
effective March 30, 2008;
-- Increasing to daily service from New York to Sydney via Los
Angeles effective August 14, 2007;
-- 38 flights per week from Los Angeles to Australia and New
Zealand;
-- Five weekly flights from San Francisco;
-- Three weekly flights from Honolulu; and
-- Three flights per week from Vancouver via San Francisco,
operated seasonally between June 13 and August 12, 2007 and
December 16, 2007 and January 27, 2008.
All Qantas Airways transpacific flights include complimentary
meals, bar service and award winning in-flight entertainment featuring
personal seat-back TV screens in all classes with over 400 choices on
demand.
Qantas U.S. mainland departures to Australia all feature
international business class service, including the only award-winning
Skybed business class sleeper seat on these routes. Qantas is
scheduled to be the first airline to fly the Airbus A380 aircraft from
the U.S. to Australia in the last quarter of 2008.
