Lufthansa today announced it will begin non-stop air service
between Orlando and Frankfurt, Germany, starting October 30, 2007.
Operating with a new Airbus A330-300 aircraft configured with 221
seats, the flight will offer central Florida travelers Lufthansa's
highly acclaimed First Class, the longest bed in Business Class and
comfortable Economy Class services on a nearly 10-hour connection to
the heart of continental Europe. The new flight complements
Lufthansa's existing daily service between Miami and Frankfurt, and
will offer travelers the flexibility of either an early afternoon
departure from Miami or an evening departure from Orlando.
"We're thrilled to soon welcome 'The City Beautiful' as our 20th
North American gateway," said Jens Bischof, Vice President, The
Americas for Lufthansa. "Orlando's business growth - especially among
the high-tech, aerospace, and healthcare sectors, makes it an ideal
choice for international air service. Premium travelers, in
particular, can take advantage of Orlando's only First Class cabin to
Europe - with amenities continuing on the ground in Frankfurt at our
exclusive First Class Terminal and lounges," Bischof added.
"From Orlando, Lufthansa travelers will be a short stop to just
about anywhere in the world, with convenient connections to some 91
destinations around Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa,"
said Benedikt Schneider, Regional Sales Manager, Mid-Atlantic and
Southeastern U.S., for Lufthansa. "This is great news for both the
growing business and leisure travel communities in central Florida,"
Schneider added.
Flight LH 465 will depart Orlando at 8:25 pm and arrive in
Frankfurt at 11:20 am local time the next day. The return flight LH
464 will leave Frankfurt at 2:05 pm and arrive in Orlando at 6:30 pm
local time the same day. The flight will operate five times per week
on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Tickets can be
purchased beginning July 3, 2007 at lufthansa.com, your local travel
agent or by calling Lufthansa reservations at 800-645-3880.
Orlando's First Class passengers will have access to Lufthansa's
First Class Terminal and related lounges in Frankfurt and Munich.
Reserved for the exclusive use of Lufthansa First Class passengers and
HON Circle frequent flyers (600,000 miles/two years), the 19,000
square foot Terminal features personal assistants, a gourmet
restaurant and bar offering more than 70 types of whiskey, a cigar
lounge, offices, luxurious bathrooms and chauffeured transfer directly
to the aircraft in a Mercedes S-class or Porsche Cayenne.
One of the world's largest airlines, Lufthansa flies to some 192
destinations in 78 countries, including 19 North American gateways.
Together with its partners, Lufthansa serves 416 destinations in more
than 98 countries worldwide. An industry leader known for its focus on
innovation, Lufthansa in March 2005 launched Lufthansa Private Jet,
which provides travelers arriving in the airline's Frankfurt, Munich
and Zurich hubs with exclusive seamless travel by private plane to
more than 1,000 airports in Europe, Israel and the Russian Federation.
With 15 aircraft on order, Lufthansa will be the largest European
operator of the Airbus A380. It is also the launch customer for the
new Boeing 747-8, with first deliveries starting in 2010. For more
