Lufthansa today announced that its popular all-business class
service from Newark will now serve Frankfurt non-stop beginning
October 28, 2007. In addition, current Lufthansa Business Jet flights
between Newark and Munich will be replaced with a three-class Airbus
A330-300 widebody aircraft to accommodate increased demand in all
categories on the route. Lufthansa pioneered the all-business class
concept in 2002 with the launch of Business Jet flights between Newark
and Dusseldorf.
The new "shuttle" service between Newark and Frankfurt will offer
business travelers more travel options between the New York area,
Frankfurt and beyond. Lufthansa will operate its newest, all-business
class flight with a Boeing 737-700 that has been retrofitted as a
Business Jet. Flight LH 485 will depart Newark daily (excluding
Saturdays) at 3:55 p.m. and arrive in Frankfurt at 5:40 a.m. the next
morning, giving travelers a full day in Europe. The return flight, LH
484, will depart Frankfurt at 8:15 a.m. local time -- offering
Lufthansa's earliest departure to the New York area and the United
States -- and arrive in Newark at 11:45 a.m., just in time for lunch.
Travelers can expect premium comfort on board, with 44 lie-flat
seats that provide a near-horizontal sleeping surface measuring six
feet by six inches long. Thanks to the spacious cabin layout,
passengers can relax in a quiet atmosphere with individualized
amenities. Bigger seat pitches, more-generous table tops, power plugs
for notebooks and reading lamps integrated into the seats provide an
enhanced working environment. All Lufthansa Business Jet flights are
also now equipped with new, high-quality in-flight entertainment
systems.
The small number of passengers onboard each Business Jet flight
allows for short boarding and de-boarding times and hassle-free
connections from Frankfurt to more than 91 destinations around Europe,
the Middle East, Asia and Africa; and from Newark and beyond through
Lufthansa's Star Alliance partners, United and US Airways.
In May 2002, Lufthansa introduced its all-business class flights
to accommodate the growing needs of business travelers. Operated by
the Swiss VIP carrier PrivatAir, Business Jet service offers 48 seats
in an Airbus A319 on all routes from Chicago and Newark to Dusseldorf,
and 44 seats in a Boeing 737 from Newark to Munich. Convenient routes
and flight schedules offer seamless connections to numerous
destinations within Europe and beyond.
One of the world's largest airlines, Lufthansa flies to some 192
destinations in 78 countries, including 19 North American gateways.
Orlando will become Lufthansa's 20th North American gateway on October
30, 2007. Together with its partners, Lufthansa serves 416
destinations in more than 98 countries worldwide. An industry leader
known for its focus on innovation, Lufthansa in March 2005 launched
Lufthansa Private Jet, which provides travelers arriving in the
airline's Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich hubs with exclusive seamless
travel by private plane to more than 1,000 airports in Europe, Israel
and the Russian Federation. With 15 aircraft on order, Lufthansa will
be the largest European operator of the Airbus A380. It is also the
launch customer for the new Boeing 747-8, with first deliveries
starting in 2010.
