Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) will begin non-stop service between
Copenhagen and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates on October 31, the
first service to Dubai from Scandinavia.
The flights will operate three days a week -- Sunday, Wednesday
and Saturday -- with convenient connections to and from Seattle, with
Airbus A340-300 aircraft, seating 245 passengers in Business, Economy
Extra and Economy cabins. Dubai is one of the world's fastest growing
cities, and in recent years has established itself as a major business
and tourist destination.
SAS V.P The Americas Sveneric Persson said: "SAS passengers
traveling from Seattle can connect easily to our new Dubai service at
Copenhagen Airport, which was ranked as Europe's best airport in 2006
by Airport Council International."
At Copenhagen Airport, SAS passengers are able to make all
connections under the same roof, so there is no need to ride a bus or
a train to another terminal. The SAS Business lounge at Copenhagen
Airport offers travelers the opportunity to relax or to work between
flights. Television and movies, wireless internet, fax and printers,
buffet snack bar and even private shower rooms are available in the
lounge.
The Airbus A340-300 that SAS operates from Seattle, and will
operate to Dubai, is equipped with new Business Sleeper seats, which
provide more than five feet (61 inches) of pitch, recline to a
near-horizontal 170 degrees and are 20 inches wide between the
armrests, slightly wider when folded down into a bed.
SAS is one of the few airlines to offer a premium economy service,
Economy Extra, located in a separate cabin with 28 seats on the A340.
The seat pitch is 38 inches, and the seat is more than 18 inches wide
between the armrests. Every seat has a power outlet for a laptop
computer, as in Business, and passengers also have personal video
screens at their seats plus audio and video on demand, with 30 audio
channels and 46 video titles.
SAS serves Copenhagen non-stop daily from Seattle, and also
operates daily non-stop service to Copenhagen from New York (Newark),
Chicago, and Washington, D.C., plus non-stop service from Chicago and
New York (Newark) to Stockholm.
