The Shaw Group Inc. (NYSE: SGR) announced today that Shaw
Environmental & Infrastructure Group has been awarded an Indefinite
Delivery Indefinite Quantity design-build multiple award construction
contract (MACC) by the U.S. Air Force and a task order contract by the
U.S. Navy's Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southwest
Division. The values for both Shaw contracts, which are included in
the company's fourth quarter fiscal year 2007 backlog, were not
disclosed.
The U.S. Air Force contract is for services at Hill Air Force
Base, Utah Test and Training Range and Little Mountain, Utah. Shaw
will compete for task orders ranging from design and construction of
new facilities and the remodeling or refurbishing of existing
facilities. The type of work will vary for each task order but may
include site development and construction, concrete, masonry, metal
buildings, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, fire
protection and special construction. Shaw is one of four contractors
selected for the five-year contract.
Shaw's U.S. Navy award is a task order contract to conduct various
repairs to the fuel facility at Marine Corps Air Station New River,
Jacksonville, N.C. This task order is awarded under our worldwide
NAVFAC Southwest Division - POL Multiple Award Construction Contract.
Overall duration for this project is estimated at one year.
For the Navy task order contract, Shaw will provide all
mechanical, electrical and civil tasks associated with repair and
upgrade of a truck fuel offloading station, four above ground bulk jet
fuel storage tanks, a truck parking area plus leak detection and
corrosion protection. Shaw will be responsible for the project and
construction management and self-perform all civil engineering work.
"Shaw brings extensive experience and knowledge of design-build,
new construction, renovation and maintenance work for all types of
Department of Defense facilities," said J.M. Bernhard Jr., Shaw's
chairman, president and chief executive officer. "We have worked at
Hill AFB under a previous contract for 15 years, and we are pleased to
have the opportunity to continue this successful relationship under
the MACC contract.
"With this first competitive task order win on the Southwest
Division - POL contract, Shaw has an opportunity to demonstrate its
self-performance capabilities with approximately 70 percent of the
project being performed in-house," Bernhard said. "We are excited to
continue our support of the Navy as we increase our presence within
the fuels industry."
