already thin margins, US and European airlines are driving innovation
and utilization of avionics system designs to lower operating costs

Saferoute or Rockwell Collins HGS are some systems set to become
important airline cockpit tools throughout the forecast period. G2
Solutions forecasts an avionics market of almost $83 billion for both
forward and retrofit market segments to 2015. Beyond the forecast
period, the expected entry in service of new narrowbody aircraft from
Airbus and Boeing will dynamize the forward fit segment that should
witness a slowdown from 2012.
Nearly 85 percent of the forward fit market is controlled by the
three avionics giants: Rockwell Collins, Honeywell and Thales. Thales'
market share continues to rise, thanks to record years at Airbus and a
diversification strategy in the regional market segment that is
bearing fruit. Honeywell is perhaps the company most exposed amongst
these three, with the 737 and 777 programs entering a decline phase
from 2012-2013.
