Quatrotec, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alien Technology
Corporation, today announced it is working on, or has completed
projects at 28 U.S. airports for security systems installation and
integration, passenger checkpoint reconfiguration, and baggage and air
cargo screening systems. Airport projects include John F. Kennedy
(JFK), San Francisco Airport (SFO) and Miami International Airport
(MIA).
Quatrotec's major projects are with the Department of Homeland
Security (DHS) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and
total over $12 million over the past 12 months. Quatrotec is the first
in the U.S. to design and build a 100% end-to-end explosive detection
screening system for air cargo. TSA projects include:
-- Reduced Size Explosive Detection Screening (RSEDS) systems at
22 airports across the U.S.
-- Lobby, ticket counter and screening area renovations.
-- Security enhancements for baggage handling systems.
-- Safety Hazard Mitigation projects
Quatrotec solutions include baggage and cargo handling systems,
explosive detection screening systems, advanced security and
surveillance solutions, RFID solutions, transportation special
systems, and project and construction management. Advanced security
solutions designed by Quatrotec have been installed at airports around
the world in order to help defend the global air transportation system
against a wide range of terrorist threats.
"Cargo and luggage screening, Perimeter Intrusion Detection
Systems (PIDS), and other areas of Quatrotec focus will only continue
to increase in importance as we work together to make transportation
safer, and to meet the evolving requirements of homeland security,"
said Dominic Della Maggiora, President of the Quatrotec division of
Alien Technology. "As we continue to roll out integrated baggage
handling and screening solutions, RFID is becoming an integral part of
the deployments, delivering vastly improved visibility and efficiency
in luggage and cargo tracking."
Quatrotec baggage and cargo inspection systems integration
services are certified under the Department of Homeland Security
SAFETY Act. When a technology is designated as a Qualified
Anti-Terrorism Technology, the seller of that technology is granted
limited liability for claims arising out of the deployment of the
qualified technology with respect to an "act of terrorism." As a
provider of Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology, Quatrotec has
obtained SAFETY Act liability protection. These liability protections
extend to Quatrotec's cargo and baggage inspection system customers.
