Faster, Tougher, Lighter: The Latest in EFB Technology from Flight Deck Resources
Communiqué publié le 05/12/2007 à 19h06

In addition to their already successful lineup of Electronic Flight Bags (EFB), Flight Deck Resources announced today the release of four faster, tougher and lighter EFB products. Designed for use in even the tightest of cockpits, the new SkyTab 3200 and SkyTab 4200 EFB product lines are some of the most powerful tools available to commercial and corporate pilots today.

A quantum leap in EFB technology, the SkyTab 3200's 1.8 GHz Intel Pentium processor, 1 GB memory and 40 GB standard hard drive come in an incredibly compact (162x210.5x35mm) package weighing in at less than 3 lbs. Performing like no other EFB on the market - it allows users to flip through charts, documents and checklists with processing power on par with most desktop PCs. The SkyTab 3200, with its extra-bright and compact 8.4-inch LED touch-screen display, is available in three different variants: the SkyTab 3200A (designed for air transport use), the SkyTab 3200C (designed for general aviation use) and the SkyTab 3200E (designed for the VLJ and similar type aircraft).

For commercial operators, the unique design of the SkyTab 4200 takes EFBs to a whole new level. The large 10.4-inch, 1200 nit touch-screen display allows pilots to view approach charts at 95 percent of original size, while the powerful 1.8 GHz Intel processor and available ARINC 429 interface provide the power and connectivity options today's fleet operators demand in their efforts to eliminate paper from the cockpit.

"We are very proud that we were able to fit so much processing power, versatility and connectivity into such a compact, single LRU package," said Keith L. Lockwood, President and CEO for FDR. "These new EFBs are going to provide an incredibly powerful platform for the software applications pilots demand. The addition of these new products to our already powerful EFB product lineup will grant us the ability to offer our customers yet another level of flexibility in the turn-key EFB solutions we provide."

"The SkyTab 3200 and 4200 series EFBs have been designed to meet the rigorous environmental characteristics for avionics grade hardware as defined by RTCA DO-160E," said Corey A. Miller, VP of Engineering for FDR. "Qualification testing has begun and is being conducted in support of fulfilling existing contracts for these devices commencing in February of 2008."

Demo units will be made available for prospective customer evaluations in the mid January time frame.
