DRS Technologies Receives $7 Million Contract to Produce Avionics Maintenance Equipment for the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Air Force
Communiqué publié le 10/12/2007 à 15h03

DRS Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: DRS) announced today that it received a $7 million contract from the McDonnell Douglas Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Boeing Company (NYSE: BA), to manufacture Reconfigurable Transportable Consolidated Support System (RTCSS) subsystems for the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Air Force.

McDonnell Douglas is the prime contractor responsible for delivering the support systems to the U.S. Navy's Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Maryland.

The subsystem that DRS will produce for the RTCSS consists of a radio frequency (RF)/microwave measurement unit, RF/microwave synthesizer, RF/microwave switch and signal conditioner, power supply and monitor, and a computer subsystem. The manufacturing of this equipment will begin immediately and be executed by the company's DRS Sustainment Systems business unit in St. Louis, Missouri. The final deliveries of the subsystems to McDonnell Douglas and completion of the contract is expected to occur in March 2009.

The contract is the fifth award DRS has received from McDonnell Douglass to manufacture subsystems for their RTCSS. To date, the total value of the five contracts awarded to DRS total approximately $36 million.

The portable and rapidly deployable test station will be used by the Marine Corps to maintain avionics equipment aboard F/A-18 Hornet fighter and attack aircraft, AV-8B V/STOL (Vertical/Short Take-Off or Landing) Harrier attack aircraft, MV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft, and the EA-6B Prowler electronic warfare aircraft. The test station will be used by the Air Force for their CV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft.

"That the Navy and McDonnell Douglas have again asked the DRS Sustainment Systems business segment to manufacture a product integral to their aircrafts' avionics system, speaks to our performance record and the quality of work completed by our employees," said Thomas G. Cornwell, president of DRS' Sustainment Systems business segment. "Quite simply, this demonstration of returning customer satisfaction is what DRS strives for from each of its customers."

DRS Technologies, headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey, is a leading supplier of integrated products, services and support to military forces, intelligence agencies and prime contractors worldwide. The company employs approximately 10,000 people. For more information about DRS Technologies, please visit the company's web site at www.drs.com.
