SAS Customer Fraport Wins Business Intelligence 2009 Best Practice Award
CARY, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fraport AG, owner and operator of Europe’s third-largest airport hub, received this year’s Business Intelligence Best Practice Award for its Business Intelligence Architecture Framework (BIAF). Bestowed by Germanys leading BI professional magazine isreport, in cooperation with analyst company BARC, the award annually recognizes excellence in BI projects. Winners were selected by an impartial panel of expert judges.
BIAF is the central information platform for operations management at the busiest airport in Frankfurt, Germany. Relevant information from all airport segments (flights, passengers, logistic, delays, weather forecasts, etc.) is consolidated in the system, which displays current performance of the whole airport in near real-time speed.
"We built BIAF over a couple of years. After very small initial steps, we have today enthusiastic acceptance on the part of all management-system users at Fraport," says Dieter Steinmann, Head of Business Intelligence, who accepted the award on behalf of Fraport at CeBIT in Hannover.
"The Best Practice Award is a commendation for the whole team. We are very happy about the achievement and proud to be publicly recognized," adds Dr. Roland Krieg, CIO at Fraport AG.
"With BIAF, Fraport mastered the logistic requirements of a leading air-traffic hub and its periphery. We are happy that our SAS solutions are a part of this great success and we congratulate Fraport for winning the Best Practice Award for 2009," says Wolf Lichtenstein, Country Manager of SAS Germany. SAS is headquartered in Cary, North Carolina in the US.
