Daylight Solutions Releases Aries™ 2W Fixed-Wavelength Laser

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Daylight Solutions, Inc., a leading manufacturer of advanced molecular detection, imaging, and high power illumination solutions, announces the latest addition to its fixed wavelength family of External Cavity quantum cascade Lasers (ECqcL™). The new Aries™ laser system operates at 4.6 µm and provides over 2 W of continuous wave or peak pulsed power. “This laser will see application in the fiber test, infrared countermeasures development, scene generation, damage testing, and free-space communications markets,” says Michael Radunsky, Product Marketing Manager for Daylight Solutions scientific products. “We developed this laser to specifically address those customers searching for medium-power mid-IR solutions.” The Aries system provides stable CW operation to 35 °C with near diffraction limited beam quality. The patented ECqcL™ design implements the latest round of chip performance enhancements, ensuring robust long-term reliability at these performance levels.

The Aries line will expand to offer LWIR for beaconing and targeting applications later this year according to Dr. Radunsky. Daylight Solutions will be displaying the Aries™ and other 3-20 µm products at booth #2504 at Photonics West in San Francisco, 25-27 January, 2011.
