Ioxus Increases Presence in China with Ioxus Asia Limited
ONEONTA, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ioxus, Inc., a manufacturer of premium performance ultracapacitor technology for transportation, alternative energy, medical, industrial and consumer product markets, today announced its new entity in Hong Kong, Ioxus Asia Limited, to increase its presence in China where wind turbine and hybrid bus markets are driving demand for higher capacity and greater power density ultracapacitors.
“Chinese manufacturers see ultracapacitors as a critical factor in their pursuit of more efficient applications. Ioxus is on the ground, filling and customizing orders to help local companies capitalize on the potential of smaller components with a capacity for immense storage, faster response times and lower peak power requirements.”
As part of the expansion, Ioxus Asia Limited will conduct direct business with local companies, as well as support regional distributors including Secotec Ltd, Sinotek, Beijing Favor, GT Advanced Energy Technology Shanghai Ltd. and Asiacom Technology. Through these channels, Ioxus is fielding significant orders in China. To meet the rapidly growing regional need for ultracapacitors, Ioxus is establishing a partnership with a local facility to manufacture, assemble and test modules and deliver them to Chinese customers more quickly.
Ioxus’ expansion in China also includes a localized website, which will launch by the end of March. With marketing, manufacturing, sales and distribution organizations deployed, Ioxus is poised to meet the needs of Chinese wind turbine and urban transit manufacturers, who are eager to adopt ultracapacitors over batteries, thereby gaining higher cycle life, wider temperature range tolerance, and lower total cost of ownership.
Ioxus’ growing footprint in China builds upon the success of its Asia Pacific distributor network, announced in late 2010. The network, which delivers technical and marketing support to local partners, was formed in direct response to expanding interest in ultracapacitors and hybrid capacitors in the region.
“The level of innovation and technological advancement taking place in China is evident in the swift adoption of optimized, cost-effective energy storage solutions,” said Mark McGough, CEO at Ioxus.
