SkyNRG Selects Intertek for Sustainable Jet Fuel (Bio Jet Fuel) Quality Testing and Inspection
AMSTERDAM--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions to a wide range of industries worldwide, has been chosen by innovative sustainable jet fuel producer SkyNRG as its fuel quality and inspection services provider.
Intertek is assisting SkyNRG in the development of a robust fuel quality assurance program, helping ensure SkyNRG provide its customers with sustainable jet fuel which is as reliable and safe as traditional petroleum Jet A1 fuel.
Intertek’s testing and inspection services will be provided across the globe, and includes testing of the 100% pure sustainable (bio) jet fuel component along with the final 50% blend with petroleum jet fuel used for commercial flights.
With recent amendments to the ASTM D-7566 specification for synthetic turbine fuel, regular flights using sustainable jet fuel are now possible. The ASTM D-7566 specification is an industry standard for describing aviation turbine fuels and synthetic blending components quality, and can be applied at fuel production, distribution, storage and fuel-transfer points.
Bart Rosendaal, SkyNRG Director for Refining and Supply, said, “For a new product like sustainable jet fuel, building confidence in the product and assuring top quality is essential especially in the aviation industry. Intertek played a vital role in the quality control of the fuel used in the first sustainable (bio) jet fuel flights and we look forward to continue working with them.”
