Frontier Airlines Introduces Kansas City-Orlando Service and Nonstop D.C. Service From Grand Rapids and Madison

Dépèche transmise le 14 octobre 2011 par Business Wire

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Frontier Airlines today said it will introduce nonstop seasonal service between Kansas City (MCI) and Orlando (MCO) beginning Jan. 5, 2012 and operating through April 15, 2012. Initially, the service will operate four days per week, increasing to six days per week beginning Feb. 23, 2012. Service will be provided on 99-seat Embraer 190 aircraft, which feature no middle seats and available STRETCH seating with up to 5 inches of additional legroom on every flight.

“Our new nonstop service to Washington Reagan provides Grand Rapids and Madison travelers the choice of flying a large jet on their travels to our nation’s capital”

“We’re pleased to expand our low-fare, nonstop service from Kansas City to include new service to sunny, family-friendly Orlando,” said Daniel Shurz, vice president of strategy and planning for Frontier. “With the addition of Orlando, Frontier will serve 19 destinations nonstop from Kansas City.” Shurz added that due to strong demand, Frontier’s recently announced Kansas City-Las Vegas nonstop service – which starts Nov. 1, 2011 – will be upgraded from a 99-seat E190 aircraft to a 138-seat Airbus A319.

The Company also announced the launch of new nonstop service from both Grand Rapids, Mich. (GRR) and Madison, Wis. (MSN) to convenient Washington Reagan (DCA). Service on the Grand Rapids route takes off Jan. 4, 2012 and on the Madison route Jan. 5, 2012. Service will be provided on 138-seat Airbus 319 aircraft, which feature STRETCH seating with up to 5 inches of additional legroom and 24 channels of DirecTV® at every seat.

“Our new nonstop service to Washington Reagan provides Grand Rapids and Madison travelers the choice of flying a large jet on their travels to our nation’s capital,” explained Shurz.

Introductory fares on the nonstop Kansas City-Orlando service begin at $79 each way (blackout dates of Feb. 17 and 20, 2012 apply). Introductory fares on the nonstop Grand Rapids-Washington Reagan and Madison-Washington Reagan service begin at only $49 each way. These fares are available starting today at FrontierAirlines.com/introfares through Oct. 31, 2011 for travel through March 5, 2012.

The carrier also is implementing route adjustments in several markets during the first quarter of 2012. These include discontinuation of Milwaukee (MKE)-Pittsburgh (PIT) service effective Jan. 4, 2012; seasonal suspension of nonstop Milwaukee (MKE)-Boston (BOS) service for the first quarter of 2012; and other frequency and day-of-week adjustments. “In these times of continuing high fuel prices, we’re continuing to fine-tune our schedules to match capacity to demand in what is historically the weakest travel quarter of the year,” Shurz said. “These adjustments, along with other recent schedule changes, are part of Frontier’s ongoing efforts to return the airline to sustained profitability.”

Members of Frontier’s EarlyReturns frequent flyer program can earn double miles for every qualifying trip they take on the new nonstop routes through Feb. 29, 2012. Travelers who purchase Frontier’s high value Classic Plus tickets will earn triple miles. Pre-registration is required. For details, please visit FrontierAirlines.com/memberoffers.
