Fusion Delta/NWA approuvée par la Commission Européenne: Delta-Northwest Merger Receives Unconditional Clearance from the European Commission ATLANTA and EAGAN, MINN., Aug. 6, 2008 The Commission noted its investigation found the proposed transaction would not impede effective competition in Europe or the trans-Atlantic. Delta CEO Richard Anderson : “The Delta-Northwest merger will combine two complementary networks to offer customers greater access to destinations across the globe. We continue to work closely with the U.S. Department of Justice and remain confident that we will be able to finalize the merger by the end of the year.” Delta in April announced that it is combining with Northwest in an all-stock transaction to create America’s premier global airline. The new company will be called Delta and will be headquartered in Atlanta. http://news.delta.com/article_display.c ... e_id=11133 |

Bonjour L'aéroport de Beijing, à l'épreuve olympique, 1400 mouvements !! http://sg.biz.yahoo.com/080808/1/4i98d.html Friday August 8, 7:34 PM Beijing airport sees busiest day ever on eve of Games Beijing Capital International Airport experienced its busiest day on the eve of the opening of the Olympic Games, the civil aviation authority said Friday. In total, 1,400 planes took off and landed Thursday at the newly-expanded airport, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) said in a statement posted on its website, with a peak of 87 in one hour. "This was the busiest moment in history for China's civil aviation," Yang Guoqing, deputy head of the CAAC, said. Flights on Friday are however expected to be fewer, as all flights to and from Beijing have been banned for security reasons from 7pm (1100 GMT) to midnight during the Olympics opening ceremony. Bonjour Le diable est dans les détails .... De la Supply Chain UK en particulier (Chère à Sévrien) De plus il se cache dans les toilettes (Le Diable, pas Sévrien )----------------L'article de L'Independant UK ---------- http://www.independent.co.uk/news/busin ... 89372.html Production of Airbus and Boeing planes goes down the pan By Stephen Foley in New York Saturday, 9 August 2008 Production of some of the world's most popular aeroplanes has fallen behind schedule because suppliers are struggling to keep up with demand for basics such as coffee makers and toilet seats. Analysts on Wall Street and in Europe are becoming increasingly concerned about anecdotal evidence from the airline customers of Boeing and Airbus, who say they have suffered delays to their orders. Both manufacturers have enjoyed a boom in orders from airlines in recent years that has left them struggling to cope. Their flagship new planes – the A380 "super-jumbo" from Airbus and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner – have both fallen badly behind schedule because of difficulties with new technology, but the delays on existing models have much more prosaic causes. Both companies are taking a closer look at their suppliers after shortages of items used to fit out the cabin. These include business class seats, toilet seats and kitchen equipment, typically made by smaller companies such as Britain's Premier Aircraft Interiors Group, which have had problems ramping up production. Boeing executives have ordered the creation of a "hit squad" of engineers to go into suppliers and help with delays. And an Airbus spokesman said the company was reviewing its supply chain. Planes affected include the Boeing 777 and the Airbus A330, both of which have been produced for years without incident, until recent months. In July, Boeing announced a 19 per cent drop in operating income at its commercial aircraft division because it delivered three fewer 777s than expected, as a result of parts shortages. Premier says it had been too slow to expand after winning big new orders in recent years, and ramping up production was complicated because each airline customer wants different equipment designed into the galley. Tom Williams, Airbus executive vice president for programmes, said: "It''s cost a ton of money. We've done some horrendous somersaults to get planes delivered." JPRS Paris _________________ JPRS |

![]() -----------------Extrait----------------------- http://www.prweb.com/releases/2008/08/prweb1174324.htm Melbourne, FL (PRWEB) August 5, 2008 -- FlightOps1.com, a web-based flight scheduling and management solution, has implemented technology and communication solutions developed by Satcom Direct to enhance and expand its communication offerings between users on the ground and aircraft in flight. This enhancement will allow flight departments to communicate last-minute itinerary changes or other critical information with pilots, crew, or passengers while the flight is in the air, instead of having to wait until landing. Using a simple web-based interface, those with administrative access to FlightOps1.com are able to send SMS text messages directly to the pilots in the cockpit and faxes to the cabin of the aircraft for passengers or flight crew, directly from any computer with Internet access. Limiting access to FlightOps1.com account administrators helps maintain secure and responsible usage of the functionality. All FlightOps1.com user logins are based on company-specified security levels for different members of the flight department, and all content is backed-up on a daily basis. All account information, including passenger data and communications relayed to aircraft, are also protected by the latest technology available. When logged into FlightOps1.com, administrators can choose the type of message (text or fax), select the aircraft by its tail number, enter the content of the text message or choose the contents of the fax, and click send. The main screens for both the text messages and faxes show a history of messages sent, including date and time, who sent the message, the tail number and make/model of the aircraft receiving, and partial text of the message sent. ----------------- http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/bus ... -21501413/ BUDGET airline Ryanair yesterday declined to comment on speculation that it may make a bid for Stansted Airport. The carrier’s chief executive, Michael O’Leary, reportedly said he was interested in making a bid for the airport, which is London’s third largest. Such a move raised the possibility of a new flight link between Liverpool and London. Ryanair is Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s biggest airline with more than 40 routes. Mr O’Leary was reported to have said he was convinced the UK Competition Commission’s investigation into Stansted-owner BAA, which is controlled by Spain's Ferrovial, would recommend breaking up the airports operator. This, he said, would open the door for a bid of around £2bn for Stansted. If successful, this could allow Ryanair to increase passenger numbers from 24m to 40m by halving landing fees and building a second runway and terminal. The move comes after BAA started legal action against the airline after it refused to pay a 15% increase in landing charges. ------------------------------- J'ajoute ! --------------------- http://www.arabianbusiness.com/527292-e ... alls?ln=en Emirates poised for expansion as oil price falls by Andy Sambidge on Monday, 11 August 2008 Dubai-based airline Emirates is poised to restart its expansion plans as oil prices continue to fall. Airline bosses are ready to act once the price hits $105 a barrel, according to president Tim Clark. On Monday, the price edged upwards to $116 a barrel as a result of the continuing problems in Georgia. He told Emirates Business on Monday: "If oil trades in that range and I hope it will, it will restart expansion of our network. We will add Durban, Algiers, Amsterdam, Kiev, Barcelona and Buenos Aires. We have hundreds of places we can go." Oil had hit a high of more than $147 per barrel in recent months. As a result, Clark told the paper: "There will be reshaping of the airline business. There will be fewer of us around. What will be left are bigger ones through consolidation and mergers," he said. Asked if Emirates was considering a joint venture, merger or acquisition, Clark said: "We certainly don't have any intention. We have chartered our own destiny. We are focused. We have been generating profits and I don't see that changing." However, the high oil price has affected profitability." --------------------- Bon il y a qq airliners qui vont se faire du souci !! Bonsoir Les Awards, meilleures Airlines 2008 ! SIA Cathay Quantas (Pas rancuniers les pax )---------------------L'article ------------------ http://in.news.yahoo.com/139/20080812/8 ... -best.html Sydney, Aug.12 (ANI): Singapore Airlines has been named the world's best airline in the 2008 Airline of the Year awards. Cathay Pacific and Qantas came second and third respectively in the annual survey. Singapore won the title for the second year in a row and the third time in 10 years. The airline also took out the award for best business class. Qantas also won the award for best first class lounge, best economy class catering and best airline in Australasia. The awards, run by UK-based aviation research agency Skytrax, are based on the world's largest passenger survey, with 15 million passengers taking part around the world. The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Skytrax's CEO, Edward Plaisted, as saying that the criticism of airlines from within their own regions did not reflect the experiences of global customers. "The global rating for Qantas is interesting. We do find that many flag-carrier airlines suffer fairly vitriolic levels of reporting in their local regions, and the airline industry remains a business that some areas of the press seem to love to hate." "The lounge concept for both product and staff service has been modelled around the finest quality you would expect to find in a five-star hotel or restaurant, and the best part is that the concept is being so well delivered by Qantas," Plaisted added. "Business class standards continue to be upgraded by airlines across the world, and Singapore Airlines managed to retain their title amidst this growing level of competition," Plaisted said. Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways, which recently expanded their Australian routes, climbed into the top 10 for the first time, and was placed tenth. (ANI) JPRS Paris _________________ JPRS |

http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/generic/ ... annel=comm Cathay Shifts Capacity From U.S., Canada Cathay Pacific Airways is reshuffling services in response to fuel prices but isn’t altering its planned systemwide capacity. The Hong Kong carrier will shift capacity away from North America and toward Australia, which will get more flights, and Europe, which will get bigger aircraft. Flights to North America will fall by 10 a week, mainly by reducing the service between Hong Kong and Los Angeles from three to two times daily from Oct. 26. Cathay says it plans to restore the third daily frequency by steps next year. Vancouver will become double daily, losing three flights a week. It had already been cut from the previous three flights a day under partial schedule changes announced last month. “Consistently high demand to Australia is leading the airline to considerably enhance its services to the country,” Cathay says. Among the changes, the Sydney route will be built up to four flights daily. Cathay currently uses Airbus A340-600s for its daily service to Amsterdam and for one flight to London. Boeing 747-400s will be substituted on both services.

Lien : http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/2d6548ce-6981 ... fd18c.html Airlines aim to form transatlantic venture By Kevin Done in London and Justin Baer in New York Published & Last updated: August 13 2008 22:58 American Airlines, British Airways and Spains Iberia are expected to announce Thursday they are applying for antitrust immunity from the US and European competition authorities to form a transatlantic joint venture that would create one of the most powerful forces in the Atlantic aviation market. Approval by Washington and Brussels would allow the carriers to form a profit and revenue sharing joint venture for their transatlantic routes in which they could co-operatively arrange capacity, networks, pricing and sales. ...................... The move will be fiercely opposed by some rival carriers led by Virgin Atlantic, controlled by Sir Richard Branson. Sir Richard has written to US presidential candidates Senators Barack Obama and John McCain, warning the proposed alliance would severely damage competition on transatlantic routes and leave consumers worse off. .......................... Certes !
