CD Release Event Highlights Sun Country ''Minnesota Music''
ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sun Country Airlines and FM107.1 Radio will co-host a CD Release Party at Chambers Hotel on Tuesday, March 24, 2009. The CD Release Party is in conjunction with Sun Country’s “Minnesota Music” program that launched in 2008. “Minnesota Music” began as a way to support local musicians by featuring them on the aircraft’s audio channels. The program has grown to include concerts, events, and inclusion in other Sun Country activities.
The hometown artists featured on Volume One of Sun Country’s “Minnesota Music” CD are Keri Noble, Lorie Line, Romantica, Storyhill, Rocket Club , Tim Mahoney, Quietdrive, John Trones, Corey Stevens, the Mayflies, George Fabor, and Scarlet Haze. “As a Minnesota company, we find it important to support other Minnesota partners,” said Wendy Williams Blackshaw, Sun Country’s Vice President of Marketing. “We developed our Minnesota Music Program as a way to highlight the amazingly talented artists we have in this state. As The Hometown Airline, we are proud to present the first ever CD Release Party featuring bands from Minnesota’s phenomenal music scene,” said Blackshaw.
The event on Tuesday will introduce a new group of artists into the program and feature a concert by three of the musicians, including exciting new band, Rocket Club, national artist Keri Noble, and local favorite, Tim Mahoney. Sun Country has created a CD, which will be distributed to guests, that is comprised of music from 12 participating artists. Release Party guests will consist of winners from FM107.1’s on-air contest giveaway.

Keri Noble – Phase 3 Musician
Things
are flying high in the wake of Keri’s self-titled release on Telarc
records. Within the first two months of 2009 her song “Emily” was used
in Grey’s Anatomy, her new CD hit #20 on the iTunes Pop chart, and "Ooh
Oh" was used in the CW's series Privileged. With this fourth release
Keri’s voice is truly her own and she’s able to declare exactly who she
is and what she’s about.
Lorie Line – Phase 2 Musician
Lorie
Line’s ability to play from any genre and create beautiful arrangements
has earned her the reputation of “America’s Favorite Pianist”. She has
produced over 26 albums and sold more than 6 million copies. Her company
is the largest woman-owned independent record label in the United States.
Romantica – Phase 3 Musician
Romantica’s
2007 sophomore album, America, has won numerous accolades, including two
awards from the International Songwriting Competition The Onion, the
Star Tribune, and City Pages have all called it one of the "Best Local
Albums of 2007." Lush and subtle, Americana is winning them fans across
the country. The band will be spending the Spring recording a new album
and touring the West Coast with Carrie Rodriguez.
Storyhill – Phase 3 Musician
"Their
sound recalls the harmonious interplay of Simon and Garfunkel and the
acoustic juice of the Indigo Girls” - Billboard Acoustic/pop duo Chris
Cunningham and John Hermanson, Storyhill, began in Bozeman, Mont.
performing together as teenagers. Most recently, Storyhill enlisted the
help of rock/pop songwriter and Grammy Award Winner Dan Wilson
(Semisonic, Dixie Chicks, and Trip Shakespeare) to produce their
self-titled album, their first to be released on independent roots label
Red House Records.
Rocket Club – Phase 3 Musician
True
to its name, Rocket Club was formed based on a shared love and a common
quest. Powered by three-part vocals and guided by solid songwriting and
musicianship, the band's recently launched debut album pulls from a
variety of different influences. Rocket Club is an assortment of
hum-worthy hooks and story-telling-through-songwriting. It's a twist on
Americana music.
Tim Mahoney- Phase 1 Musician
Tim
Mahoney’s first band, the high energy, pop rock Blue Meenies, quickly
made its mark on the Midwest music scene. Mahoney has released five solo
albums including his most recent, “Full Circle and continues to perform
full band and solo acoustic shows around the country.
Quietdrive – Phase 1 Musician

John Trones – Phase 3 Musician
John
Trones is a Minneapolis based musician/actor and writer whose signature
soulful crooning has won him accolades on both national and
international concert tours over the past ten years. Having released
four albums nationally on his own label, he is represented in Asia on
the Universal label. Trones is currently recording his fifth album,
co-produced with Grammy-nominated recording artist and pianist, Jim
Brickman.
Corey Stevens – Phase 1 Musician
Linked
to Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan, Corey Stevens and Norm Steffen
on drums, Mark Johnson on bass, Jim Stark on rhythm guitar and
harmonica, and Paul Testa on the Hammond organ, just released a new
