MedAire Flu Kit Helps Prevent H1N1, Seasonal Flu
PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In the wake of the current H1N1 influenza outbreak, and due to high client demand, MedAire has developed a Flu Kit to help aviation and maritime crewmembers prevent the spread of H1N1 and seasonal influenza.
“MedAire’s Flu Kit offers a complete solution for minimizing the spread of influenza—H1N1 or otherwise,” says Robb Leigh, M.D., MedAire Chief Medical Officer. “Ultimately, when a person presents with flulike symptoms—especially a cough—he or she should be placed in an isolation area onboard the aircraft or yacht. That individual should be given a surgical mask to prevent transmission of respiratory droplets when coughing, and the treating crewmember should wear preventive equipment—including N95 masks, gloves and hand sanitizer.”
Designed for private aircraft and yachts, the supplies contained within the kit can help at least one ill person and the caregiver over the course of 2-3 days, or several people during the course of one day. MedAire’s Flu Kit includes:
- Gloves
- Hand Sanitizers
- Surgical Masks (for the ill person)
- N95 Filter Masks (for the caregiver)
- Thermometer Strips
- Germicidal Wipes
- Disease Transmission Prevention Tips
In addition to the Flu Kit, MedAire, an International SOS company, offers additional aviation and yachting medical kits designed to treat injury and illness most often encountered in remote environments.
