Spain is one of few countries in the world with companies offering services that cover the entire value chain of the aeronautical industry. The Spanish aerospace sector is the fifth largest in Europe in turnover and employment terms behind France, the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy.

Annual turnover in the sector amounts to euro 4,420 million, and it employs a workforce of 34,000. Over the last decade it has grown at a rate of 12% per year on average.

Spain has major aeronautical clusters concentrated in the regions of Madrid, Andalusia and the Basque Country, and has become a hub for the attraction of innovation and development projects in the sector. Boeing and Airbus have set up Research and Excellence Centers in Spain for the development of major innovation projects. Investment in R&D now amounts to 14.4% of turnover in the sector in Spain.

Business Opportunities

The Spanish aeronautical industry has leading companies in areas such as air traffic control systems, aerial refueling aircraft and compound materials such as carbon fiber. It also provides promising business opportunities in new technological capacities such as the development of unmanned aerial vehicles, very light jets, helicopters, engines and propulsion engineering, and ecological materials for the aerospace industry, to name but a few.

Invest in Spain has organized the online seminar in which three experts will analyze the Spanish aerospace sector and new investment opportunities. The presentations will be made by Vanessa Guerrero, Investor Services Manager of Invest in Spain (Aerospace Sector), Alberto Gutierrez, Head of Global Supply Chain & Industrial Operations (Airbus), EADS-CASA and Jose Alcocer, Managing Director & Industrial Operations, AC&S SLU, a Company of the ESG Group.

It will be a technical seminar that will last around an hour and a half, the contents of which will be broadcast directly on the webpage of Xtalks so those in attendance can ask the experts questions.

It will be held on Tuesday the 30th of June from 9:00am to 10:30am Eastern Day Time or from 3:00pm to 4:30pm Central European Time.
